Big news out of XScreamEscapes, as they announce the closure of one of their first escape rooms, Bedlam: Escape the Asylum. The company said ‘Bedlam was one of our original escape rooms which we will always hold dear in our hearts so keep your eyes peeled for further updates. This also means that there *might* be some space to build something new, so there will be future emails closer to the time!’
However, the ghosts within won't go down without a fight, and the inhabitants are coming back out to play. Bedlam: The Awakening is back for a small run, before its final closure. The experience runs from:

April 17th – 19th, 24th – 26th
May 1st – 2nd

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM TPNFY

With plenty of exciting things to come, the 2020 season is set to be a great one.

Alton Towers are opening their rethemed Cloud Cuckoo Land, "The World of David Walliams". The attractions are currently unknown.

Chessington WOA are rerouting Toadie's Crazy Cars to make space for their new mini log flume.

Legoland Windsor are opening their new "Duplo Dino Coaster" for the younger ones (But we all know the little ones aren't going to be the only riders).

Tornado Springs is coming to Paultons Park with new spinning coaster Storm Chaser among 8 new attractions.

Finally, Flamingo Land are unveiling their new 10 looping coaster, which is set to be a smoother (almost) clone to Colossus at Thorpe Park

We hope you all have a wonderful 2020 and get to visit as many of these new attractions as you want!

DAY 6
Halloween, like every year, has to be the best time in the theme park season for any theme park enthusiast. 2019 saw loads of new attractions and even revamped previous ones. There's simply too much to cover so here's a short summary of the additions this year!

ALTON TOWERS SCAREFEST
Introduced The Attic: Terror of the Towers and Darkest Depths

THORPE PARK FRIGHT NIGHTS
Added Creek Freak Massacre to the lineup, self proclaimed "scariest attraction [the park] have ever done"
Added "Terror at Amity High: High School Sucks" flashmob show

CHESSINGTON HOWL O WEEN
Introduced "Spyders" to their lineup, a new family scare attraction.
Included "Creepy Caves After Dark" in their offering

TULLEYS SHOCKTOBERFEST
Replaced "The Colony" with "The Wreckoning"
Added Wastelands Penitentiary

SCREAMFEST BURTON
Replaced "Demonica" with "Hillbilly Joe's Zombee Zoo"

XTREME SCREAM PARK
Is the best. Objectively.

Is there anything we've missed? What are your opinions on this year's spooky season? Let us know in the comments!

DAY 5
This 2019 season saw plenty of milestone anniversaries in the UK theme park scene.

Thorpe Park celebrated its 40th anniversary with special merchandise, and plenty of other fun events to enjoy. It also held actors in SAW: The Ride's area to celebrate its 10th year of operation.

It was also the 25th year of operation of the famous 1994 trio of coasters that all opened in the same year. These rides are Nemesis (Alton Towers), Shockwave (Drayton Manor) and The Big One (Blackpool Pleasure Beach). Celebrations included The Big One gaining its very own soundtrack, and Nemesis' designer, John Wardley, meeting and greeting starstruck enthusiasts!

2019 was indeed a year of celebration here in the UK, which celebration was your favourite?

DAY 4
The Merlin parks weren't the only parks to get new additions this season, there was a number of attractions in other parks too!

Adventure Island Introduced Axis, a new pendulum-style ride that was bound to attract visitors from across the country, and it achieved that. It's an excellent ride and just what Adventure Island needed to improve their balance in family and thrill rides.

Fantasy Island also unveiled two new rides for this year. Ice Mountain, their Fantasy Mouse coaster with its now semi-permanent festive overlay. It certainly brings something new to the table with its light effects and even animatronics! And Air Maxx 360, their intense new flat ride that actually left the park in August to travel. Let's hope it makes a return in 2020!

What do you think of these smaller additions? Did we miss any attractions at smaller theme parks?

DAY 3
The two other Merlin parks also had fantastic 2019 with the openings of Room on a Broom: A Magical Journey and Haunted House Monster Party

Chessington opened Room on a Broom: A Magical Journey back in March to replace the old Hocus Pocus Hall, it is a fantastic interactive experience for the younger ones and is definitely worth a look. Although it's a good attraction. It definitely doesn't live up to its predecessor.

Haunted House Monster Party is a solid attraction in the LEGOLAND Windsor lineup, and is definitely a new headliner at the park. It's a lighthearted, fun for all the family ride. Legoland is definitely heading in the right direction at the moment as they seem to be investing heavily on experience.

Have you experienced either of these additions?

DAY 2
Thorpe park had a busy year too, running four different events over the course of the year to celebrate its 40th birthday. These included :

GameFX - a collection of games console, old and new for all to enjoy, located in the lakeview marquee. It also gave competitive play opportunities and VR games.

Jungle Escape - An all new escape experience located in the old I'm A Celeb building. Journey through multiple puzzles and challenges to escape before the other team, but is the jungle all that it seems?

Bouncezilla - My personal favourite of the four, a huge 90m inflatable course next to Zodiac. It definitely bit back.

Luna Cinema - Movies under the stars... And stealth.

What do you think of the park's 40th anniversary celebrations?

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

TPNFY would like to wish you a Merry Christmas! We will provide posts over the next week to reflect on what a season 2019 was for the UK parks.

Up at Alton Towers, the Alton Towers Dungeon opened, providing guests with a 45 minute experience with 5 scenes and a boat ride, revitalising the old Charlie & The Chocolate Factory boat ride. It's a great addition to the park, although feeling out of place.

They also opened their new value accommodation option, with the 'Stargazing Pods'. These are great for small, older families to give the feeling of camping without all the dirty bits. Although cheaper than the hotels, I'd say it's still slightly overpriced, as you only get a limited space, and it's quite a trek to the toilet & shower block if you're in one of the farther pods.

What do you think of the 2019 additions to the resort?

After many months of rumours & speculation, Blackpool Pleasure Beach today announced that their main water ride, Valhalla will be standing but not operating in the 2020 season and instead getting a ‘sprinkling of magic’.

The ride is set to reopen in 2021 for their 125th season.
