They are subtle, the music turned down low, but they are out and dancing!

March 2012. Sled Dog Love.
Malek, Luzy, and Jane know they can get out of their lines and take over this truck. They are stronger than us. Malek is measuring the distance to driver, Luzy is analyzing the clasps, and Jane is using her good looks. They have just hauled us and ninety-pound sleds 300 + miles, Nenana to Tanana and back. Through -10, -20, -30 degrees, windstorms and icy rivers, sleeping outside, running all day and listening to wolves at night. Two weeks on the trail. They are ready for more.
This was a spectacular trip. I learned so much; that I don't like to stop either, that the dogs are everything,
that outside is the only real place I crave to be. Maybe these are my own powers.
The huskies never lost confidence or doubted their abilities, over all the crazy terrain. They each stepped forward with glee. Over and over, I landed face down trying to hold them back, until I finally got passable at keeping up with them, when they let me.
The only reason there isn't pandemonium in this vehicle is because they chose to bide their time

Hiking

Hiking Alaska in Autumn with dogs Artie got to choose our route and he led us up to the summit of this beautiful ridgeline. Here, we enjoyed the view and rolled around on the tundra so we could be enveloped in its heathery smell. Luzy is seeking out the next mountain to climb :) MiraBella will lead us down. Everyone needs the opportunity to lead. Where do you want to lead?
