My Bucket List

As a college student in the 80's, I had the wonderful opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy. The people, the culture, the land, the food, the shopping...what is not to love! I was especially taken by the simple way the Italians lived their lives. Smaller homes, smaller cars and just less stuff. They were more concerned with family, spending their money on travel or meanin

gful experiences and simply enjoying life. I was totally shocked when I learned the entire town of Florence shut down from 1-4 PM so everyone could go home to have an enjoyable meal with their families and then take a nap.

Fast forward about 20 years. I began to practice and study yoga and recognized the similarity between the teachings of yoga and the way the Italians lived their lives. I began dreaming of the day I would lead a yoga retreat in Tuscany. I put it on my bucket list. In September 2016, I checked that off my bucket list when I co-lead my first Tuscan yoga retreat.

Just because I checked an item off of my bucket list does not mean I removed it! I intend to keep it there so I can continue to share my love and passion for Italy and yoga. As a bonus, we have expanded to include retreats to Greece!

Our retreat to Lake Como was so much fun. The week was spent doing yoga, eating delicious meals, shopping the Como market, hiking up to an old castle, Castello Baradello, and having a little wine and focaccia, hiking to San Martino church for the famous views of Lake Como with a wine tasting and food pairing after at an adorable restaurant called Ali di Alice.

We also did something a little new and trending in Italy, a beer tasting. Yes, craft beer has become popular in Italy. The beer was paired with food to bring out the flavors, similar to a wine tasting.

It was a wonderful week with a group of amazing yogis!
