Day 4
Today was a lazy day. Breakfast with Mickey, a wander around the resort. Then the compulsory shopping and back for a relaxing dinner

Second half of day. We caught up with our friends and extended Rotary family at the Rotary Club of Kapolei Sunset. A small club with a big heart. We gave them Changemaker badges.

Day 3. Another busy day. Very early start, thinking this would be a quiet time . No that was not the case. Traffic bumper to bumper at 5.30am. So we headed to pick up our friends and out to Pearl Harbour for the day. Always moving. First out to the Arizona. Only allowed 10 minutes. Then back to catch to bud out the the aviation museum. We have not done this before. We then caught the bus back to the Missouri (big Mo). Wow that was a big day.!

Day 2
Early start to pick our friends up after their cruise, and drop them at their hotel. Some other friends were staying across the road so caught up with the for brunch. Day cruising around town.

It has been a big few days so will do a few posts.
Day 1
We arrive on Friday headed to pick up our car and got and were upgraded. Booked onto Aulani and straight to the room. Wow. Saw my first sunset and had an early night. Long day.

Forgot to post. Too busy packing packing packing. Our holiday is almost finished. We headed to mortgage shore to see the big swell. Started at Waimea bay and headed back to Haleiwa. Some good surf, but very rough. Then back to the resort to start packing.

Our holiday is coming to and end. Unfortunately! To say was a character breakfast and what a huge breakfast, followed by a “spot” of shopping.

Well today was a bit of a relax. We attended the DVC get together and had photo’s with Moana, Chip ‘n Dale and Stitch. We headed over to Pearlhighland for a little shopping then to waikele for a few things and lunch at Chilli’s then back to Aulani and a rotary meeting for dinner. A small friendly club.

Today was a day of exploring with long time friends Jackie and Susan. We went exploring the island calling into Ted’s Bakery a place on the bucket list. we all had garlic shrimp and pie. We then drove up the coast to the north shore. The waves we grown and made a spectacular site. Finished the day day Dole Plantation a favourite of all. So good to be able to share the day wil good friends

Today was a relaxing day. Food shopping this morning followed by a couple of hours in the lazy river. Lunch by the pool and then time out if the sun. Walked over to the village and back for dinner and watched the sunset from the lanai. Tomorrow is going to be an adventure.

Today was a day of travel. We left Kona early booked in at the desk. Very helpful staff. Breakfast at the cafe and then off to Oahu. Easy access to the bags and out the door to pick up the car. Different system but much better. The Thrifty guy was a character and decided he liked talking to us so upgraded us. Then off to Aulani our home resort. So nice to hear “welcome home” after sooo long. Check in was easy, and the room was ready in 10 mins. Up in the 16th floor. Oh the view. First sunset.

Well today was our last day on The Big Island. We packed, attended a Rotary meeting, renewing friendships, lots of banter and making new friends. Then back to relax and a swim. Tomorrow will be an early start to O’ahu.

Today was a day of bucket list. First we had breakfast at the hotel and watched a cruise ship come in. We then headed to the southern most tip of USA, driving through yet another lava flow. Quite hit, but so many people fishing. Then I drove home. Thought it would be good experience until we hit heavy rain. Oh well we made it back safe and sound. Only one more day on the island the off to our home at Aulani.

Tonight we decided to eat out, so headed to Kona. We were lucky enough to get a table at Kai. Good food great service, fantastic views and friendly staff. What else could you ask for

The second tour was at The Vanillerie where we were shown the process of growing, harvesting and drying the vanilla bean, finished off with a vanilla ice cream. Once again a labour intensive process carried out hy one person.

Today was a day of knowledge so have broken into two posts. The first was a tour of Kona Sea Salt. This company harvest salt from 900year old water. A very labour intensive process.

Another fun day exploring the island. We drove up to Waimea along the coast and then back inland. Looking at Mona Kea and trying to see the telescopes but they were covered in cloud, as was Mona Loa. We stopped to view the last lava flow of Mona Loa. Decided halfway back we would like afternoon tea so drove down to The Coffee Shack at Captain Cook. First Kona Coffee for the trip and a liliki’o cheesecake (passionfruit cheesecake). Shame it was a voggy day, usually we can see the Captain Cook monument. Well tomorrow is another adventure.

All settled into our hotel. Royal Kona. A lovely old hotel on the edge of the bay and the township of Kona a short walk. Time to explore tomorrow. The end of a very long day.

Well it has been a long day. Topped of with a quick beautiful flight to Kona on the big island. Weather is hit an humid with heavy cloud cover.

Oh boy what a day. Flight was good. A few bumps but otherwise good. We were both able to grab some decent shut eye. Getting through security was easy as. Transferring was a nightmare. The self serve system would accept our boarding passes. Had to see customer service. They were very helpful, but we’re going to charge us until we let them know bags were checked through from Sydney. Then then was another security check. Oh my gosh talk about cattle herding. Now waiting fir our flight to Kona and a relax.
