Sunset Bay to Fort Shirley and Cabrits National Park, Portsmouth, Dominica. It was a pretty mellow 8 mille paddle with a few Easterly crosswind spots as we passed valleys
Fort Shirley is by far the most rustic of our accommodations but some of the more comfortable beds. We chose the two officers quarters upstairs while Freddie took the a whole dorm to himself down stairs. The fort does not see a lot overnight guests and we had it to ourselves.
A stop at Secret Beach for a snorkel with more tropical fish, a huge puffer fish and octopus. Octopi?

Third day of the Waitukubuli Sea Trail from the Anchorage in Newtown to Sunset Bay in Baroui.
This was the big day, 11 miles, plenty of rest stops, snorkeling, and lunch at Mero Beach. With the following wind and ocean current 11 miles was a breeze.

This is departure day from Soufriere on the Waitukubuli Sea Trial.
After two night at the Soufriere Guesthouse we packed up our gear into kayaks at Soufriere Outdoor Centre and headed north up the Caribbean coast.
Freddie, a native of Soufriere, was our guide for the trip. His knowledge of local plants and fish was vast and our questions never stopped. When we ask if could stop on a beach, take dip in fresh water river or anything really Freddie's answer was "Of course!"
"Freddie can we keep this piece of coral?" "Of course!"
Turns out you can't keep the coral.
The Anchorage was a nice place with AC and comfy beds and Creole breakfast was fantastic.

First day in Dominica. Starting on the Atlantic side where the airport is to the calmer Caribbean side to start the Waitukabuli Sea Trail. 40 miles over six days from Soufriere to Capuchin.
