"I'm just an ordinary bloke, at least I think I am."

Those were the words of 82-year-old Nick Gardner, when he spoke to Trail after completing his inspirational challenge to climb all 282 of Scotland's Munros in just over two years. Or 757 days, to be precise.

150 people, accompanied by the sound of bagpipes, were waiting for Nick when he strode onto the summit of his final peak Cairn Gorm in late summer, bringing down the curtain on an incredible achievement that began after his beloved wife Janet developed osteoporosis, Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia.

Nick raised over £80,000 for charity along the way and over the course of a fascinating interview, he explained to us how Scotland's hills have also helped him come to terms with his own grief.

Artistic photography is borne out of someone’s need to express feelings or relay a message through an image. It allows one to share their unique perspectives of the surrounding reality. Photography can be spontaneous, but it can also be conscious and deliberate.
