Crap trails full of nettles and brambles made the day tough. Luckily we hit the Cotswolds Way this afternoon then it was smooth (uphill) sailing from there on out!

Going through *** was a tangled mess. I was navigating so opted to ask this sweet lady for directions. She was so kind to point us in the right direction and give us a bit of history on the flooding in her town. I guess this is why they call it the Samaritans Way 😆

Arrived at the train station in Castle Cary and took the long walk to our first nights stay at The George Hotel.

Left CC and began along the Monarchs Way. Well kept trails by the locals (thank you!) made it a spectacular day. Many stops in many churches.

Day one out of Castle Cary along the Monarchs Way
Day 2 we ended in North Wooten. It was a 15.5 mile day, lots of uphills.
Day 3 was 12 miles to Compton Dando, beautiful scenery walking first along Samaritan’s Way then joining the 2 Rivers Way.
Day 4, had us coming along 2 Rivers Way then after crossing the Avon we joined back up with the Monarchs Way. 13 miles.

Just a quick catch up as I’ve been neglectful posting.

So far the route has been just stunning. We’ve come across and stopped in about 10 churches, seen moats, beautiful estates, and courts.
