Genoa, Italy

We stopped in Genoa for a few nights before we went to see family in the tiny village of Ognio.

One of the largest maritime ports on the Mediterranean. Famous for Genovese Pesto, a family favorite and focaccia. It is also the birthplace of Christopher Columbus and Niccolo Paganini.

We walked the extremely narrow streets(picture 2, roofs almost touching) of the old town, went on a hike to a nearby fort, just outside the city, found a cute beach, relaxed and people watched in the piazzas, and enjoyed an MC Escher exhibit.

My Italian Family. Ognio, Liguria, Italy!

We have been in the Ligurian region for the past two weeks. Reconnecting with family, exploring the family farm, talking (a bit difficult since we have just begun our Italian language learning, but not too bad) for hours about the history of my family here in the region of Liguria.

I'm extremely lucky that my family has been dedicated to researching and keeping detailed records of family here in Italy. We have also helped fill in some of the gaps of our family who left in the 1800's for the US.

We have been in Milan, Italy for the past 3 weeks. We enrolled in an Italian language course during his time. (One week left to go) While our brains are not as young and as pliable as they once were and my memory struggles to remember basic vocabulary, it sure has been a great way to help us understand and communicate with our friends and family here.

Milan is a vibrant well lived-in city. Many public areas to enjoy a cafe (espresso) or the famous aperitivo.
A city of high (sophisticated) fashion, hand made shoes, beautiful home design stores, window shopping, cafes and restaurants on every corner, art, architecture, plenty of culture and history to keep us busy exploring.

Italy is a country you will never go with out killer food, great coffee(cafe/espresso), gelato and friendly Italians always wanting to have a conversation.

🥦Mini-farm update🍓

There is something satisfying about seeing your hard work come to fruition.

A lot of dirt was moved, many seeds started, caring tenderly for baby plants, transplanting, hours of weeding, and the great pleasure to indulge in the bounty!

Ps....haven't had to buy hardly any vegetables in the past 3 months. Here is to a continued bountiful harvest!!!
