This weekend, Nizza Monferrato's streets are scene of the traditional barrel race.

🇮🇹 Sabato 8 e domenica 9 giugno 2024 a Nizza Monferrato torna la storica Corsa delle Botti!
Si tratta una tradizione che risale all'Ottocento quando i garzoni di bottega provvedevano alla consegna dei fusti, facendoli rotolare sulla strada e ingaggiando vere e proprie competizioni.

Il giro di qualificazione si svolgerà domani, sabato sera, a partire dalle 21.30, mentre le semifinali e la finale la domenica pomeriggio. Ogni squadra è formata da 3 a 4 spingitori più un responsabile che, a turno, possono scambiarsi il compito di spingere la botte (detta anche ""bonsa""). Un solo concorrente alla volta potrà spingere la botte che pesa circa un quintale.

In concomitanza alla Corsa delle Botti si svolge Monferrato in Tavola, una rassegna gastronomica in cui le pro loco del territorio proporranno i loro piatti tipici sia sabato a cena che domenica a pranzo e cena.

parteciperà all'evento con uno stand nella piazza principale con vino alla mescita e vendita di prodotti locali. Vi aspettiamo!

🇬🇧 On Saturday, June 8th, and Sunday, June 9th, 2024, the historic Barrel Race returns to Nizza Monferrato! This tradition dates back to the 19th century when shop apprentices were responsible for delivering barrels, rolling them down the streets and engaging in real competitions.

The qualifying rounds will take place tomorrow, Saturday evening, starting at 9:30 p.m., while the semifinals and the final will be held on Sunday afternoon. Each team consists of 3 to 4 pushers plus a manager who can take turns pushing the barrel (also called ""bonsa""). Only one competitor at a time can push the barrel, which weighs about a quintal.

In conjunction with the Barrel Race, ""Monferrato in Tavola"" takes place, a gastronomic event where local associations will offer their typical dishes both on Saturday for dinner and on Sunday for lunch and dinner.

will participate in the event with a stand in the main square, serving wine and selling local products. We look forward to seeing you there!
