Canada has a non-essential travel ban. I am not recommending anyone travel during the current pandemic. How some people are behaving so selfishly and so disrespectfully in places that depend on tourism for their economy is mind-boggling. Visitors are harming the community they are visiting to the point where residents are have to speak up for their safety not their livelihood. It should be safety over profit and entitlement. Please don't be like those people.

Wishing everyone a merry Christmas! Although this year has been tough, it's important to recognize that happiness comes from being around family and friends, not necessarily about where you are or what gifts you get. Whether it's a virtual Christmas or a single household gathering, feelings and emotions are not material items. Covid has certainly put into perspective that social connection is at the heart of being alive, which is why we see the health restrictions as limiting.

As Dr. Henry says, this is not forever. When we are able to travel again, it's to be with friends and family in new places, creating new memories.

Wow, this vest looks amazing! If you are in the back country or in a flood zone, earthquake zone, I think it would really be a great bag to grab & go. My earthquake kit is in a backpack, and it's already heavy and it doesn't even have enough food and water for 3 days.

Be wary!! Even though we all want to travel and enjoy our summer, take precautions at all costs! You cannot guarantee companies and the general public are following the rules. People may be Covid19 carriers and not know it.

The flight is just the latest to be added to a list published by the BC Centre for Disease Control, which includes domestic and international flights where passengers have tested postiive for COVID-19.

Although I am not recommending anyone travel at this time outside of Canada, it is interesting to see what countries around the world are doing to re-open their economy and who they're letting in. If you're interested in what Europe is doing, check out their website! It's pretty useful. You input your country of interest and it gives you info about travel restrictions, quarantine, etc.

When do you think you'll be ready to travel again? Everyone's safety level is different. But since Covid-19 is still out there, wouldn't you want the peace of mind of being taken care of when you're traveling? Do you think having a local expert at your fingertips would alleviate your concerns, anxieties and answer your questions?

Consider a tour company if you're considering traveling to several cities in 1 trip. These companies are knowledgeable about the region, customs, locations, attractions and lesser known secret local spots, and speak the language of the destination and would know how Covid-19 has affected their country and region.

I've taken several group tours before and they took the stress out of traveling so I could really enjoy my vacation. When you look at what you spend per day, you actually get a lot of value. Look at how much you spent on your last vacation, divide it by the number of days and calculate your per person cost. This will likely be somewhere in the hundreds $ per day but you wouldn't have had to do everything yourself. (Of course, family pricing is a bit different with young children.)

Many tour companies offer different levels of comfort and budget, from independent travel to luxury. Many of them can offer private group tours so that you don't have to be socially distant on a tour bus. Not all tours are like that. Definitely not the ones I've been on.

I am learning about Globus Family of Brands and they have 4 brands: fully escorted Globus tours, value branded Cosmos tours, independent travel Monograms and Avalon Waterways river cruises. Their group minimum is 8 people! That's only 2 families of 4 or 4 couples traveling together. They may even do groups of 5 on special request. Isn't it hard to find hotels that fit a family of 5 or 6? Or you can earn a free traveler for your group if you reach a certain number.

Wouldn't it be awesome to travel somewhere together and have everything taken care of and VIP access to attractions, centrally located hotels and recommended restaurants, bars and cafes?

As things start to open up, people must be itching to travel. If you're considering booking a trip, always read the latest policies for cancellations, whether you get a voucher or your money back and ALWAYS consider travel insurance. Many companies are changing their policies as things change, borders open, etc., so keep copies of everything you were promised, or policies at the time of booking.

In the meantime, I've seen lots of deals for future travel, like a 3 day cruise from Van to San Fran for $199 pp on NCL and super cheap return airfare to Havana, Cuba, taxes included for under $300! Keep your eye out and stay safe!
