Well this was crazy! My driver was on drugs or something and just started yelling at everyone he could. We almost hit a few pedestrians on the drive too! Luckily I got a new driver once we hit the main bus station.

This is probably the most fun thing I did while I was in the Philippines. Amazing experience!

One of the coolest things in Cebu, Philippines is the Badian Canyoneering. You need to have a guide but the cost was not bad for how much fun it was. HIGHLY recommended. Floating hotel proposes best views of Aurora Borealis

The proposed and soon to be built, Krystall Hotel is perhaps the best place to view the Aurora Borealis on earth. The floating luxury accommodation is shaped like a snowflake and built within the Arctic Circle. It will be based in the fjords of picturesque Tromso in Norway. Beautiful in its own right, but imagine, the northern lights above.

The project is being developed by Dutch Docklands, which specializes in floating structures, and they intend for its design to blend in naturally with the winter environment. It will be constructed on a concrete base that’s then tethered to the fjords, but will still have the freedom to move between six and 10 feet on either side of its center.

Krystall Hotel will be the first floating hotel in Europe, offering 86 rooms will a glass roof for viewing of the Northern Lights. It is projected to open in 2017, so book now and be among the first to see the lights in style.

In Pictures: Beautiful Bolivia, you have to see it!

Bolivia is breath-taking, but don't take my word for it, just check out these pictures from Antony Harrison. He has captured the country's amazing natural beauty from flamingos to mountains and wild sulphur pits. Bolivia truly comes alive in Harrison's photos.

The pictures are the product of a three-month trip to the country, Harrison travelled extensively and saw many of Bolivia's famous sites including the Salar de Uyuni salt flat, Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun), the gorgeous Lake Titicaca, and the incredibly dangerous Death Road.

"Words and pictures don’t quite do justice to the majesty of Bolivia, never on earth I have met with vistas, people and culture quite as unique as this country has to offer," says Harrison. After looking at his photos we definitely agree!

Learn how to laugh in any language!

Learn how to laugh in any language!

If English is your first language, laughing is as easy as "hahaha". This is the most common way to write laughing as an expression. But what if you don't speak English? A smile may be universal but the language of laughter is very different depending on where you come from. So how do you chuckle in Persian? Do you giggle in Chinese? Check out these graphics to become fluent in humor around the world

The graphics give you a variety of ways to laugh with the written word. If these don't make up your native tongue, some of them might not make much sense. For example, in Thai someone would type “555” to say “hahaha.” This is because the number five is read as “ha,” so onomatopoeically, the two sound the same. The Japanese language also uses a lot of onomatopoeia sounds, and typing “WWW” is a quick way to express laughter.

A cave that makes music, you have to see this!

A cave that makes music, you have to see this!

It may be the world's strangest musical instrument, the Great Stalacpipe Organ inside Luray Caverns in Virginia. The organ uses the cave itself to produce its music, sitting on top of a pedastal it is surrounded by hundreds of hanging stalactites.
Watch the video -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZ0px0a8FLo

The organ appears like a normal instrument (aside from its unusual location), but it is actually wired into the cave itself. The organ's keys are wired to rubber-tipped mallets that strike the cave's stalactites. Each one has various lengths and thickness to produce a distinct tone that sounds very much like a xylophone. The organ is connected to exactly 37 different stalactites scattered over 3.5 acres of the caverns, which makes the Great Stalacpipe Organ, in one way, the worlds largest musical instrument.

In Pictures: Spectacular painted cliffs in the Tasman Sea

Maria's Island is well known for its beautiful sandstone cliffs, the patterns are well known in the region and are a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike. The Painted Cliffs are found in the Tasman Sea, off the east coast of Tasmania, Australia. Today, the entire island and the ocean around is a national park full of birds, animals and marine life.

The intricate patterns are found on the exposed rocks along the shore, they're caused by ground water that seeps through the sandstone then leaves traces of iron oxide as it goes. The regular patterns of red, orange and yellow bands and rings are due to fractures, joints and layers present within the sandstone.

Oregon's ghost forest, a spectre of trees on the coast

Oregon's ghost forest, a spectre of trees on the coast

Off the coast of Oregon remains a ghost forest, the trees that are quickly becoming a memory lay off the coastal town of Neskowin in Tillamook County, between Lincoln City and Pacific City. The trunks are the remains of what was once an impressive Sitka spruce forest. Now the ancient trees have been eroded away to just stumps.

The forest wasn't always visible. For almost 300 years the stumps were hidden underneath the sands until a storm uncovered them in 1997-98. County residents say that the stumps were the stuff of legend until them, emerging every several decades. However, since the winter of 1998, the Neskowin Ghost Forest has become a permanent fixture on the beach.

The stumps represent the only remnant of a 2000-year-old forest. When alive the Sitka spruce were thought to have stood between 150-200 feet tall. It's believed that a massive earthquake killed the trees between 1680-1720, the earthquake would have been accompanied by a massive tidal wave that buried the forest.

The sand that kept the stumps a secret also maintained them by protecting them from bacteria and air, otherwise the trees would have rotted away over time. It's not a well-known spot either, so if you're looking for isolation the ghost forest at Neskowin is the perfect choice.

Best travel apps & websites of 2016

Best travel apps & websites of 2016

Technology has forever changed the way we interact with the world and this is also true for the way we travel it. If you're planning a vacation, you're going to use the internet, so why not use the very best websites and apps to make your trip a success.

Check out the best websites and apps for 2016!
1. Find a place to camp with HipCamp
HipCamp is the Airbnb of camping, but instead of renting someone's room or house, you're renting a place to pitch your tent. The site is a platform to connect campers with landowners. This isn't to say it is all primitive camping either, there's something for even the most demanding glamper. HipCamp lists over 2283 parks, 8789 campgrounds and 283,392 campsites in total, so you’ll never be short for somewhere to settle under canvas.
2. Go anywhere and keep travel accessible with Accommable
The mission of Accommable is "To enable anyone to go anywhere", this is something the founders Martyn and Srin take to heart. The pair met through a support group for children with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) – a disease that has them both wheelchair bound. In 2015, they launched Accomable: a website listing accessible holiday rentals around the world, with detailed access information on each property, the locality and nearby services – an invaluable source for anyone travelling with a disability.
3. Take better photos and edit photos with Snapseed
Smartphone photography has evolved with many phones featuring camera just as capable as your average DSLR. Snapseed (available for both iOS and Android) allows you to edit your photos with presets or tune options on your photo. You can enhance the saturation, brightness, contract and more.

4. Check out Airbnb, go beyond the hotel
Airbnb has truly changed the way people travel and book a place to stay. Now the company is moving on to experiential travel, the concept connects travellers with locals who give valuable insight on the city, tours and experiences that an average tourist may not have access to.
5. Support new travel ideas with TravelStarter
Working off the business model for Kickstarter, this website is a global crowdfunding platform to start or support local tourism projects. It could be something in your own hometown or around the world. Travelstarter also offers rewards for your support.
6. Explore the world through they eyes of someone else
Periscope sells itself as the vicarious video experience. The app allows you to broadcast video, live, from anywhere in the world. You can also store your video for your followers to review later.
7. Get Advice from the Locals with Evaneos Travel
A platform that was new to the UK at the end of 2015, Evaneos Travel has emerged as a secure way for travellers to connect with local travel agents. This means you'll get the best local knowledge before you even step foot in your destination. Evaneos are planning to launch in the USA in 2016.

8. Easy exchange rate calculation with XE Currency Converter
One of the best currency converters available today, XE Currency Converter makes it incredibly easy to figure out the exchange rate with just a few taps of your fingers.
9. Find the Northern Lights with Aurora Alert
The Northen Lights are as famous as they are elusive. Aurora Alert is a handy app showing Kp readings in your current location, and offers notifications that’ll let you know when the weather is best for a dance in the sky.
10.OCD Travel Planning with Travellerspoint
It’s neither the most beautiful nor the most intuitive travel planner on the internet, but we love the concept of Travellerspoint. Pin all your stops on a map, choose how you’ll travel in between each place and add in dates – the ultimate tool for any fastidious traveller.

11. Meet fellow travellers with Adventurely
It’s currently only available in beta in New York City, but Adventurely could be rolling out more destinations soon. The app allows you to input your travel dates, choose the tourist attractions you want to visit and then it matches you with other travellers doing the same thing, so you can have someone to explore a new city with.
12. Freshen up with a "day hotel", 6Hourly helps you find them
You know the story, you have to check out of your hotel at 10:00 am but your flight doesn't leave till midnight. Sure, you can fit a day's worth of sightseeing into the rest o your trip but who wants to fly home without a shower? Fortunately, this is where 6Hourly comes in. The website and impending free Android and iOS app – only operational in India (though it’s an initiative we’d like to see rolled out in more destinations) – allows you to book a hotel room for as little as six hours, meaning you can grab a shower and take a nap to freshen up before your long flight.
