Losers!! 😳Yep, we’re in that group of people who are LOSING the things we DON’T WANT in life and GAINING happy, healthy, critical-thinking kids! Homeschooling should NOT look like public school, but it should have some structure, some planning and it takes some work to not only enjoy the outcome, but the process too 😅Here are our top 3 tips:1) Find out your child’s learning style: Visual, audible, tactical or kinesthetic. You may be teaching them in the wrong way so they can’t enjoy learning.2) Focus on one subject for a period of time. Instead of hitting 3 subjects a day, maybe do math for 2 weeks, or science for 3 weeks. This allows them to get fully immersed in a subject and enjoy learning, thus retaining a lot more information.3) Build your own schedule based on your goals. Yes, structure is good, doing school in the morning is good, keeping a schedule is good, but sometimes you need to just take a day off or end early so you can breathe. Spread out your goals and put some breathing room in your schedule. Just make sure you have something creative or beneficial for the kids to do during their off time, NO SCREENS!Share your tips with us! What is working for you?

It’s TERRIBLE!!Or so they say…🤔Let’s face it, the teenage years are full of newness, excitement, change and a whole lotta nonsense. 😬☺️😭🥹😩🤯 So what better environment to help these little people develop than a padded box with tons of family time and constant detachment from the peer pressure? 😂All joking aside, the teenage years should be full of life, full of serving others and full of wonderful memories with friends and family. So here are some things we do to keep the joy alive and cope during the hormonal waves. 1- Plan our routes to meetup with friends as much as possible, but at LEAST every other month. 2- Teach our kids the goal of each stage in life (Development, not selfishness) and help them focus on the positive through giving and serving and not inward focussed confusion. 3- We keep our kids off of phones and off of social media. This keeps their minds clear and able to discern between emotion and logic without the influence of the internet garbage. 4- We spend quality time WITH the kids. It’s inconvenient sometimes, but it allows them to feel free to “be who they are” while also getting the necessary feedback that “You’re acting annoying and need to change that part”, all in a loving environment. An important balance of feedback, I think. 😂 5- We schedule regular phone calls and organize gaming time for them to keep up with friends they meet along the way. This way they don’t feel like it’s such a loss when we move from place to place and they learn the value of discipline in building relationships.What are some struggles your teens are facing at home or in an RV?

Family can be complicated 😅 But holidays like Easter bring us together! 🙌❤️Ofcourse Easter is much more than a family holiday or an egg hunt, it’s the time we celebrate the most epic surprise in Christian history, Jesus coming back to life after being crucified! Boom! Who does that?! (Jesus!) 😜 We love showing our kids that living a life of purpose is not only rewarding in the present, but also in the future. As they look back on their childhood they will always remember going to church and celebrating Easter with family and that will bring them peace as they face difficult times.I know that many of you have broken, hurting families that cannot be in the same room, and I understand that, but for those who simply need to reopen the lines of communication or endure some minor inconveniences to create family memories, let me challenge you to make it happen this year. And you know what? They are HAPPY! and THRIVING!😃If your children are struggling😔, let me encourage you to take them off of social media, find them some new friends and pull them out of public school! They will be happier and healthier and despite their initial protests, they will thank you later! 😆

Teens need BOUNDARIES!I may step on some toes here, but I’ve seen so many parents “stepping back” as their kids are reaching the teen years and letting them make all the big decisions on their own. But what I’ve learned from research and personal experience is that the teen years are FULL of confusion! Between wild hormones, body changes and friends, teens need good solid boundaries to keep them grounded during these tumultuous times in their life. Otherwise, they will make decisions in these short years that alter their life in a very negative way.But don’t worry, they have plenty of freedom. We are teaching them to make decisions in the areas they DO have control over, such as time management, personal responsibility, conflict resolution, managing money, making good personal hygiene choices and building their relationship with God.Let me tell you, despite the ups and downs, our kids are happy, healthy and living everyday to the fullest WITHOUT the influence of societies “requirements”.Let me encourage you to revise your plan and build a healthy set of boundaries for your teens. They need you to protect them during this time, even if they don’t think they need it ;)

The dreaded day!! 🌹 😖 VDAY!!!Haha, not really 😜. What a special time to SHOW your kids how their future spouse should treat them.👩❤️👨We’ve made it a tradition to take our kids on dates for Valentines day and then Michelle and I pick another day that week to go out (more on that later). I can’t tell you how valuable this time was with both of our kids. They come alive with individual quality time! 🥰Now, we only have one car so we’ve had to get creative with the “separated dates” idea, but we make it happen. Sometimes we just get a separate table at the same restaurant or we do our own activity and Uber over to meetup later. If you’re in the same boat, don’t give up, just be creative and take your kids on dates!..just maybe not on the same day as the dentist 🤪
