Interested in learning about mushrooms?
Savor the Wild Tours is still offering classes called Seattle Mushroom Foraging 101. I have gone on a couple of their events and I highly recommend them !
I was invited to scout some sites and below are some photos of what we found. Golden chanterelles, yellowfoot aka winter chanterelles, hedgehogs and Matsutakes.
TDC is doing a joint event of truffle hunting then clam and oyster harvesting in the spring. We will keep you posted.

Welcome to with Mr. Magnificent, aka Perry. Perry, being short for “Perigord” which is what he finds, very successfully for his humans on their Truffière nestled at the southern end of the Willamette Valley at Cartwright Truffiere. He’s a New Year’s Eve baby, and now a seasoned Perigord truffle hunter.

Being the Mascot of the Truffière, Perry is ever present, and ever magnificent, hence his moniker “Mr. Magnificent”. There are many great stories about Perry, from his mom's original worry about getting a Brittany with enough drive to work-- to which I (Alana) said, “Linnet, it’s a Brittany. You’ll be fine…" to the trials and tribulations of being the lone Brittany in a family of Rhodesian Ridgebacks (yes, they hunt too) and Rhodesian ridgeback lovers. He's the 1st Brittany in the family, who have never had a bird dog (any Brittany owner can commiserate with this), to that time, recently, his dream came true and he actually CAUGHT a squirrel (isn’t that every dog's dream?) When he’s not hunting truffles, he takes care of kitties, visitors, and even some pests on the property— as mentioned ;)

He’s a dreamboat in my book.

You can meet him, give him LOTS of snuggles and pets, and learn all about how to grow truffles- and many, many Perry Stories at our upcoming Truffle Growing Workshop on Dec. 7th & 8th. There a few spots still available so we’re opening it up to the public. It’ll be a great chance to learn all about how to grow truffles, hunt truffles, and how not to damage your rotator cuff following your Brittany through the truffle orchard 😅. So come give Perry some love, and check out the Workshop if you’re curious about growing truffles (or already have a plantation in the ground- this is heavy on science and USEFUL info for you as farmers!)

We just moved the location of our Mushroom 101 hunt on Sunday to the Redmond, Wa area- Yay for closer to town! If you’re new to mushrooms this is a great opportunity to learn how to identify some of the tastier edible species this time of year including chanterelles, winter chanterelles (a personal favorite), some boletes, and russulas! If you’re a beginner, it's an especially great place to start! Hope you can join Moshe out in the woods! Moshrooming

In Honor of Veteran’s day we are bringing you a day early to celebrate one of our Veterans who has contributed so much to our Truffle community here in the Pacific Northwest.

For those of you who haven’t already, please meet Aaron & Georgie.

Georgie is a 2 1/2 year old female Pembroke Welsh Corgi that is not simply a pet, but a companion to Aaron, an Afghan war vet. Georgie helps her handler with back pain and PTSD. Georgie has been trained in advanced obedience and Parkour training to also help with her truffle hunting! She has quickly become an advanced truffle hunter who has helped other handlers and their dogs get out in the woods and find truffles. Georgie’s favorite treat is string cheese and she loves taking long rides in the car.... (usually to truffle locations)!

Those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting Aaron (& Georgie) know them for their unending kindness and generosity. They are very humble, but have helped a great many teams get out in the woods to hunt. You’ll have a chance to meet Aaron and Georgie at some events this upcoming season, as they’ll be leading a few adventures for us this year in Washington (up now on the website to sign up!) and helping advanced students get out and get some practice in the field. Next time you see them, give them a hearty hello and thank them for all they do. And a Big thank you to all our Veterans, this and every day.

Curious what it takes to farm truffles successfully here in the US?

We have only a couple of spaces left at our growers management workshop Dec. 7 & 8th at Cartwright Truffiere in Oregon where you too can learn some of the most up to date management techniques to grow truffles! If you couldn’t make it to NATGA in KY this year, this is a great opportunity to come learn. While this is heavy on science and gear towards individuals who have truffle trees in the ground already, it’sa great jumping off point for anyone looking to get started seriously.

And you might get to try or new cocktail- the Truffled Velvet (made with Perigord) or the Moss & Moonlight made with our native black truffles!!

Hope to see you soon!
(Link in bio- sin as we can or check on website!)

Stopped in on the Woodinville In-Person Foundations Mixed Class today. Looks like Erica is working with two nice teams. Sage and Spice did a nice job working on truffle scent targets!
I think along with Victoria’s on line class and Erica’s in person class you will have a very reliable truffle dog !

Please meet TDC Alum and friend Zoë (or Z-bear as she's known) for this

This intelligent, sensitive, and highly energetic Lagotto Romagnolo has an incredible story— Zoe began her scent work at just 3 months old, finding her first truffle a few months later, and has since been eager to please in her quest for more. Her passion for truffle hunting is truly remarkable, and it’s clear she was bred for it! Now at 5 years old, Zoe still retains her playful puppy spirit and adores her basket of toys that are typically sprawled across the living room daily.

A note from Zoe’s Mom:
“As someone who works in learning development, I adapted various techniques from the trainers who supported us and read quite a bit about truffle hunting. I believe the training consistency, intention, and salmon treats created a personal connection that allowed us to master the art of truffle hunting together. A little fun fact: Zoe has a palate for fine food and loves truffles and quickly learned that if she eats a truffle—NO TREATS for her!

During the Covid pandemic, we embraced the great outdoors, spending most weekends foraging for wild edibles and truffle hunting. This became our safe way to connect with friends and Zoe's with doggo truffle buddies. Every hunt is a new adventure filled with cherished memories!

I never dreamed how much Zoe and truffle hunting would change my life. She’s a special pup who has deepened my appreciation for nature, helped me reclaim my health through countless miles of hiking, and restored a sense of balance in my life that had previously been overtaken by work. Z-Bear, as I affectionately call her, is truly a blessing in my life!”

If you too would like to learn to hunt truffles like Z-bear here and forage in the woods for edible goodies, there are only a few spots left in our last Foundations classes starting in about 1 week. Aside from the mixed-level in-person class in Woodinville in Dec, this is our LAST F1 class starting this year- so don’t hesitate to sign up if you like to join Zoe in the woods this season! https://truffledogcompany.com/product-category/instruction-all/online-classes/foundations-1/

For more fun adventures you can follow along on Zoe & her mom's adventures on Instagram
