There were actually two ticks on the bench enjoying the view of the boats before we arrived. These giant barges push coal, gravel, and sand through the lakes, Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake.

Some moments are captured on a low res phone and you just gotta work with it. ⚡ These were pulled from a video I was taking showing the huge rainbow when lightning flashed as well.

Monsoon season is still going strong in AZ and the afternoon thunderstorms usually clear in time for the colorful sunsets.

We thought we'd miss the bison who were hiding out somewhere on the preserve. But that was ok— we had already seen a blue bird couple, maybe a painted bunting, humming birds, and elk. Thankfully, we decided to go around the loop again. There, moving from the shadow of the woods into the golden sunlight was the herd of bison with several calves.

Anthem was very convinced that this zebra swallowtail was HIS butterfly. Much to Anthem's annoyance, the butterfly flew daringly close but just beyond his fingertips.

📍June, Kentucky. James and I have driven through (with our previous Airstream) but never spent time in Kentucky and after driving for 4 days, it was time for a break. This beautiful little spot offers lakeside camping, mountain biking, hammock trees, great sunrises, and free ticks!

Were you even in Texas if you didn't BBQ? The answer is no.

Some smoked meats are disguised under a generous layer of sauce and if you have kids you know you can hide anything under ketchup. If that's your thing, I'm not judging— I'm just here to say needed no disguise and they know it. The smoked brisket and sausages were amazing, quality, juicy and flavorful on their own, no disguise needed. Note the great indoor and outdoor spaces and big rig parking.

Right off i10, Route 377 S, State park Rd 73, there's a parking lot big enough to turn around in and a creek warm enough to cool off in as well as some picnic tables and a grill. Note: the fish nibble.

This is the first time we've been here in the summer...we usually seem to pass through in January or February when the water seems downright hot compared to the air and we have the entire pool to ourselves. However, surprise, on a 104° day, ALL the Texans are swimming (which is fine because it means the baby piranhas will be busy with everyone else' toes)

🌮 maybe one of our favorite blocks in Tucson. You could probably even find parking for a larger towing rig. Two great coffee places, true southern comfort food [um, that's tacos, BTW], and ♥️AZ merch all within a few blocks. (Decibel Coffee, Presta Coffee Roasters, Seis Kitchen featuring regional Mexican cuisine, and Why I Love Where I Live).

In April, we celebrated a year on our property. We'll post a before/after down the road. We have a mile of trails, a mini Zipline, fruit trees, cacti, a little climbing board, a small patio with a grill, a few swings, dog training obstacles, a mint garden, three RV parking spaces, and some MTB obstacles.......but no "house". 🏠 In our travels, people have often asked, "Don't you wish you had more space (or more things or storage or privacy)? Aren't you missing out on these things?" Having traveled full time for nearly a decade, I guess it's really trail building and obstacles, growing things, and letting the kiddos run wild are that we've been "missing out" on the most, if our activities on this property are any evidence. 😊 🌱 Also, if you have an RV, and you want to visit SoAZ this winter, we have parking dry spots for you.

Last minute pivot to spend Easter with some little friends! Colorado seems lagging behind with it's springward progress but we did see lots of snow on the mountains and mild winter conditions on the road. Correlation? I think so.

According to the rules, we have 72 hours to park here but the drama started on NextDoor the next morning. "Who's parked on the corner?" "It looks like a homeless guy with a dog." "Call the police!" "Leave him alone, they're probably visiting for the holiday!" 🤣

Brother's dinner date with his sisters. He helped go shopping, make dinner, and get the table ready all of which he immensely enjoyed. But when his sisters opened the door after he knocked, THAT was what put a smile on his face. 😁 The girls were thrilled that they were going to dress up to go to dinner and they also thoroughly enjoyed the moment. And yes, our kids officially refer to pomegranate juice as "kid wine" and it's a special treat.
