"Diverse landscapes are Chile's biggest asset. Traveling around this long, narrow country, you'll be greeted by an ever-shifting panorama of rolling vineyards, dazzling lakes, towering volcanoes, deep fjords, high grasslands and sprawling salt flats. To do this terrain justice, you really need a set of wheels."

Yes, please! 🚍

"...there's something undeniably thrilling about the whole experience. It floods your senses and tugs at your emotions. You're ensconced in this rich red velvet and gold setting, surrounded by spectators dressed to impress, with this electric expectation hanging in the air. Finally, when the voices begin to soar, there's this communal sense of awe before you're swept away into another world."

If you're still looking for a winter break...

"Winter is considered to be the town’s off-season, but if you like to ski and ice climb, winter is the time to visit.

"Both Brill and Jespersen say winter is their favorite season in Silverton. 'A lot of people that live here during the winter have ended up here through years of migration; [they] found this place that is the skiing Mecca, and have tried to put roots down just because of the skiing,' said Jespersen. Brill notes that 'you can count on snow” in Silverton, thanks to the town’s high elevation, and that you can “find discounts on lodging in the winter months.'

Locals share where to stay, shop, and play in the remote mountain town.
