Uganda's inaugural Tourism Expo took place in September 2013 in the gardens of the Sheraton Hotel. The inaugural event attracted over 40 exhibitors and over 2,000 paying visitors. Tourism Expo 2013 acted as the launchpad for an annual domestic and regional tourism event and tested the market to prove the need for a Tourism Expo that targets domestic, regional and international tourism in Uganda. Additionally, Tourism Expo 2013 received a high level of interest from airlines, banks and tour operators from Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania, who plan to exhibit in 2014.
