In my top 3 things we did in our 17 days…. My goofy grin and behavior in the video tells it all. 😂 I probably was way more excited than any person should be for this, but I love doing things that are unique or at least things I’ve not done before, and I certainly had never bought secret cookies from cloistered nuns I couldn’t see, having to speak Spanish. Well, that is if you can call what I said speaking Spanish.😂😂 I found out about this while researching our trip and knew this was on my Must Do list. These cloistered nuns bake and sell cookies but because they can’t be seen, there’s a whole process to it! First of all, it’s not easy to find the place. It’s off a side street and there’s only a little paper sign attached to the door. You have to beep in through the intercom asking in Spanish if they have any cookies today. If so, they will buzz you in. You then make your way down a few corridors until you get to the wooden turntable built like a lazy Susan but with walls so you can’t see in. You ask what kind of cookies they have (they sell about 6-7 kind but usually only have 1-2 types each day), tell them which, what size and how many, then you put your money on the turntable, it gets spun around and you have your box of cookies. I had wanted the almond ones and happily she had them. Bonus, they were SO GOOD! They surprisingly tasted like coconut macaroons!!! And no one make fun of my “Spanish”! #nuncookies #madridnuncookies #secretnuncookies
