🌼 Mimosa: A Flower of Celebration and Sweetness 🌼

In Italy, mimosa flowers are the symbol of International Women’s Day, delicate yet strong, just like the incredible women who brighten our lives every day. 💛

And to celebrate, there’s also a special popular treat: Torta Mimosa, a soft and delicious cake filled with cream and pineapple (or strawberries!), a sweet way to honor this day. 🍰🍍🍓

To all the amazing women on our team, our travelers, and our followers: today and every day, we celebrate you with respect, love, and appreciation. 💕

Happy International Women’s Day! 🌍💫

The Significance of Ash Wednesday in Italy 🌿

After the lively and indulgent celebrations of Carnival, Ash Wednesday (Mercoledì delle Ceneri) marks the start of Lent, a time for reflection, simplicity, and spiritual renewal. In Italy, this period brings a shift toward more modest meals, with traditional dishes like Minestra di Magro (a light vegetable soup) and fish-based meals taking center stage.

The Catholic tradition encourages followers to give something up during Lent, as a form of preparation for Easter. It’s not just about food, it's a time for introspection and self-discipline.

Have you ever observed this tradition? Did you know about it?

Fat Thursday! 🎭 From crispy Chiacchiere to indulgent Frittelle, each region has its own delicious traditions. Which one would you love to try?

🥯Chiacchiere
Crispy, sweet, and impossible to resist! Chiacchiere (aka Frappe, Bugie, or Cenci, depending on the region) are thin fried pastries dusted with powdered sugar. One bite and you're in heaven! ☁️✨
🎭 Castagnole
Small, fluffy dough balls, fried to perfection and sometimes filled with cream or chocolate. These bite-sized delights are a staple of Italian Carnival!
🥳Frittelle Veneziane
Venice’s take on Carnival treats: soft, fluffy fritters often filled with raisins or custard. The perfect snack while strolling through masked parades! 🎊

Did you know February only has 28 days (most years) because of the ancient Roman calendar? 🗓️ It used to be the last month of the year, and since winter didn’t require much planning for crops, the Romans made it shorter!

Our Story

Passionate Ambassador of the Italian art of “living in the moment”. Travel renegade. Avid learner. Italian food & wine lover. Total advocate of the American Dream.

Born and raised in Florence (Tuscany), Italy, at 22 years of age, Nada Vergili relocated to the USA in 2001 with nothing but a suitcase and a heart full of hope, after falling in love with her amore, a young Italian-American from NY State whom she married soon after. It seemed like a relatively easy and natural choice, since she already spoke fluent English and was familiar with the American culture, having spent a few years in Florida with her family when she was a child.

Moving back to the states to find her passion in a career, she noticed an immense fascination towards Italy and the Italian culture in the eyes of all the people she would meet in the beautiful city of Charlotte, NC.

“People would ask me why Italians seem to enjoy life so much. I didn’t know what to tell them. All I knew were the everyday experiences I had growing up in Italy, the way we live, the way we eat, spending time with our families, and our attitude towards life. So I simply started to share those.”
