This week we celebrate 10 incredible years of flying to Mexico! From our very first flight, where we were greeted by Mayan warriors on the ramp, to now, we’ve created countless memories and connections with our amazing Customers and Employees.

On a recent flight six - yes SIX - different brides were en route to their bachelorette parties with their respective "bride tribes". Our Flight Attendants quickly jumped into action and made sure each bride was celebrated and recognized in their own bridal procession!

We’ve been cookin’ up some magic with Visit Orlando, New Orleans & Company, and Walt Disney World!

In celebration of Walt Disney World Resort’s new attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we flew 24 aspiring chefs from Louisiana to embark upon a culinary adventure of a lifetime at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando.

In partnership with Visit Orlando, Walt Disney World, and New Orleans & Company we had the opportunity to whisk these young chefs away onboard a flight from New Orleans to Orlando and back after a few days of nonstop fun. They were greeted at the gate with a classic New Orleans party, complete with a jazz band, second line, and Disney goodies – just another Tuesday in the bayou state! The party continued inflight where everyone was surprised with Tiana’s cookbook full of creole recipes and other keepsakes.

The group enjoyed a ride down the bayou of Walt Disney World’s new attraction inspired by, “The Princess and The Frog.” Did you know Tiana’s character was modeled after the late, great Leah Chase, lovingly known as the Queen of Creole Cuisine? Stella, Leah’s daughter and Zoe, Leah’s great-granddaughter joined the trip, inspiring these young ladies with advice along their four-day journey.

While the ride was the main attraction, the chefs were dazzled by the magic of Walt Disney World with exclusive culinary experiences, tours of famed restaurants, and advice from seasoned executive chefs at the Most Magical Place on Earth. We loved cooking up a good time with our Customers and Employees alike as we hosted this talented group who, like Princess Tiana, are ‘Almost There’ in reaching their dreams.

Today is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, a day to raise awareness about human trafficking and promote the rights of trafficking victims and survivors. We’re proud to partner with organizations like Polaris to aid survivors with their travel needs. Through our Points for a Purpose program, we donate Rapid Rewards points that help survivors receive trauma-informed care and access recovery programs. Thanks to many contributions from Customers like you, more than 260,000 Rapid Rewards points were used to support the travel needs of trafficking survivors between April-June 2024.

This year marks 25 years of us hiring Interns! What better way to celebrate National Intern Day AND National Hire a Veteran Day tomorrow than by highlighting one of our own?

Farhan is now a Crew Scheduling Strategy & Portfolio Manager, but he started as an Intern in our People (HR) Department. His career in the Navy began right out of high school, and he continued to serve throughout college, his internship, and his early career.

Transitioning from an internship to a full-time role, Farhan was able to manage his civilian and military careers simultaneously. He’s held various positions at Southwest and moved into a Leadership role last year. Farhan is proud to connect with and mentor current Interns while also participating in our “Heart With Heart” program that transports loved ones and fallen service members to their final resting place. He does all this while leading the Crew Scheduling Strategy & Portfolio Team.

“The Southwest Family has supported me through all my career changes, and I’ve always felt encouraged to explore my passions and interests. I carry a sense of pride for Southwest even when I’m not at work, and I’m grateful for everything this Company has blessed me, my family, and all of our Cohearts with.”

We employ more than 10,200 military members and 1,800 military spouses and are grateful for their sacrifices and contributions. As we celebrate 25 years of our Intern Program, we proudly recognize Farhan for his dedication to our Company and Country!

What started as a routine flight turned into an unforgettable birthday extravaganza for little Edie, thanks to our incredible Employees.

It all began when a Customer Service Agent saw that it was Edie's birthday and rallied fellow Passengers to start a dollar collection for the birthday girl. Once on board, our Flight Attendants took the party to new heights! The entire plane joined in singing "Happy Birthday," and Edie was presented with a makeshift 'crown' and a 'cake' crafted from toilet paper. Our Crew then invited Passengers to contribute to Edie's "cash train," where her birthday fund quickly grew with every step down the aisle.

Upon landing, Edie's generosity shone through as she gifted $20 to a band playing at the airport. In turn, they serenaded her with a beautiful rendition of "Happy Birthday".

We are so proud of our Employees for constantly going above and beyond to transform ordinary journeys into extraordinary memories. Edie, we hope your 6th birthday was as special as you are! May your year ahead be filled with the same joy and kindness you experienced on our flight. Here's to creating more magical moments in the skies! ️
