Stayed tuned for more details and remember....."it is never to late to learn"

One day in 2014, I had two visitors at my gallery—the A. Wickey Studio-Gallery—in Seacrest Beach, Florida. They had scheduled a meeting with me to talk about a retreat in France, an unexpected topic. I normally meet and talk with anyone who requests a meeting because you never know what you might le…

Here's what one participant said of the 2015 experience:
Every so often while at the Rhone Retreat, I would glance around surreptitiously or peek behind a tree looking for the cameras and film crew because I felt like I was on set the entire week. It couldn’t be real, I thought. People can’t really live like this, in ancient stone cottages set amid grapevines and cherry groves. And people can’t really eat this well every single day with fresh local produce procured that day at a bustling market in a quaint village. And surely, eating picnics among Roman ruins and crumbling chateaux overlooking panoramic vistas or sipping rose by candlelight in a walled garden are things you only do in a movie. Even the people felt perfectly cast as the conversation, laughter and wine never stopped flowing. While I am so thankful it was all so very real, part of me wishes it was a film that I could replay over and over again. As a painter, I came back inspired by the lush color and texture of the French landscape, but as a person I came back renewed by the pace and beauty of the French lifestyle and enriched by the bonds of true friendship and shared experience.
Emily.

Those of you still considering the October Poetry workshop with Carol Light, please check out comments from two of our participants at the Painting workshop last June:

"My stay at Rhone Retreat easily surpassed all expectations! It was a uniquely authentic experience with amazing French cuisine, beautiful French countryside furnishings and the most fun-loving hosts that a guest could ask for! They went out of their way to help us experience life in France and all it has to offer from tours of castle ruins to picnics overlooking the French countryside to dining al fresco on the grounds of the property. We felt fully immersed in the culture and all of it’s beauty. These experiences gave us such great inspiration for our painting workshop at Rhone Retreat. We had a blast letting loose each day and learning and growing while putting our visions on canvas. I’m blessed to have met and stayed with such wonderful people and will cherish the memories of that trip always!" Lauren D.

"I wanted to let you know that my trip to France, staying at the Rhone Retreat, was the greatest trip of my life! I have to be careful, because it hurts my husband’s feelings, because it was such a fabulous experience without him!! You did an amazing job scheduling our day trips, every place we went was better than the last! I especially loved the markets & the shopping! I’ve never had such a knowledgeable tour guide, for an entire week, day and night!
Kim’s picnics on our day trips were so special, the views and the wine weren’t bad either!!!! We all loved meeting at breakfast, watching her prepare everything homemade for the day. It was the best food, on any trip, that I’ve ever eaten.
Most of all, I loved getting to know all of you. By the end of the week, we were like old friends, making plans to get together again in Fla.
I can’t wait to come back, and have another wonderful experience with my sweet Eddie!
Thank you for making it the trip of a lifetime!" Vicki D.

Lots of bees buzzing at Rhone Retreat with Ken Jourdan!

While Ken was mowing the lawn on Thursday, getting everything ready for the weekend’s seven guests. He saw this: And, on closer inspection, this: At the plant market on Wednesday, we’d noticed several bee hives scattered in a field of wildflowers behind the greenhouse. So, Ken returned to drop off t…
