Great crowd at the airport this evening. Too windy for the balloons to inflate but Seth and Dan did a great job showing how wind affects them.

Vendors starting to set up. Popcorn is ready already. Helicopter rides have started.( they are 20 bucks for short ride 40 for longer.) And the kids airplane train is going.

Great kick off of the Touchstone Energy Hot Air Balloon Festival at Willow Ridge Winery tonight.

Three balloons launched from the winery & several stood up for a short glow.

WCIAs meteorologist Kevin Lighty did his weather reporting at the event and had fun with Touchstone Energy Balloon Pilot Dan Reusch.

IMPORTANT INFORAMTION:

We have been informed that the Mid America Parachute Club out of Taylorville WILL NOT BE JUMPING this year due to mechanical issues with their jump plane. Unfortunately, the repairs will not be done in time.

While the balloons are cool, probably one of the other favorites of the Cookout Glow on Saturday evening October 12 are the jumpers from the Mid America Parachute Club out of Taylorville. Five jumpers will leap from the sky and put on a show. This is capped off by the fifth jumper descending to the ground carrying the American Flag with Antonio Muñoz once again singing the National Anthem.

First jumper is at 5pm ... You don't want to miss this exciting piece of the evening. Food and other activities begin at 4pm, with the glow at dusk. Sunset 6:19 pm. Shelby County Airport.

All Balloonfest activities are weather dependent.

We would like to thank two new sponsors this year to the fun flights.

Software Solutions Inc. (SSI) was the Saturday morning fun flight sponsor. Pilots would have dropped hula hoops on tethered poles in a balloon version of ring toss. It was to windy but three balloons did fly.

Glenda Sphar EIP Realty was the Sunday morning fun flight sponsor. Pilots navigated 9th street beach area to drop safety rings into kiddie pools.
