"On the Move"

Ronelle's favourite ocean animal, she has this uncanny knack of spotting them which generally results in me swimming around like a "doffy" trying to spot what she has spotted and according to her, very clearly pointing out.

At least in this case it was not to hard to spot 😉

"As the light fades...."

Curoius black tip pops up to the surface unexpectedly as I was about to pack it all up and head home........leant a lesson that day.......patience and this is nature.....you never know when something will happen, all you can do is wait, anticipate and make the most of the moment!

I suppose there are a million seal images posted out there but this is my best attempt so far......2 seal dives in my life and I guess I cannot complain with the results.....and no s**t these guys will bite your ass..

"Scurry"

I suppose one can consider one self blessed if you go to the Sardine Run nowadays and actually get some sardines, a small bait ball with dolphins even more so!

Watching these sardines scurry in different directions as the dolphins darted through them, but to then return back into a ball and continue to stay together for the sake of preservation. The interesting thing though is how these fish then just go back to eating, swimming, being until the next coordinated attack.

"Illusion"

It is sometimes the perception that we hold for an animal that makes us believe it's larger than life and to be feared, the reality is, that the animal is not so powerful and is desperately in need of protection. Rarely does this fact override the illusion and fear created by images and stories burned into our memories from childhood, sometimes a good stare into the "illusion" called reality may be the only way to see the "real" picture!

"The Approach"

It is all about being aware and in touch with your surroundings at all times, working in a buddy pair and keeping and eye on him and the animals around you.

The catch is though that we have entered their domain and here, they rule. When a GW comes straight at you it has a significantly higher "heart rate" value and there is absolutely nothing you can do but watch, respect and take the picture, the GW will decide what happens before and after that ;)

Impossible to describe the moment! Was one of the most incredible moments underwater in the 20 years that I have been diving. Suddenly swarmed by more than a couple hundred schooling Coachman, Fusiliers etc etc just made for a moment underwater where I was astounded. This image does little to show the splendour, but it gives a glimpse to what we saw .... Another incredible day underwater with Machangulo Beach Lodge and Bluepixel Photography!

It has been an odd few days for me in terms of underwater photography, with the creation of BluePixel Photography, I now teach and watch others take awesome images under my guidance.

In a rather strange way it makes you feel great and it fills you with pride when you see the guys and girls faces light up with sheer joy and their eyes are filled with excitement and passion when they get "the shot" they have always dreamed of.

On the other hand you also just want to jump in and be part of the action as well, but yet you don't because of the roll you have in the teaching process and the the importance of imparting the right advice and knowledge to the customers and friends.

The thrill and joy of taking a great image is now replaced with knowledge that you helped someone else to achieve their goals and improve their photography!

I think the latter is more rewarding ;)
