The team designs and fabricates a steel bridge according to the criteria put forth by AISC and ASCE. We then have the opportunity to compete in areas such as stiffness, construction time and presentation against other schools at regional and national competitions. Who is on the steel bridge team? The steel bridge team is comprised of undergraduate students of all majors currently enrolled at USU.
Can I join the steel bridge team? What do I need to do to join? Anyone can join the team. To join, contact any member or send a message to this page. You can also just show up to any meeting, we'd love to have you. When does the steel bridge team meet? Regular meetings are held on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 PM. Generally, we meet in the Technology building lab. Other meetings and fabrication events are held as necessary. Contact any member for more details, we will also post events to this page. What if I can't make it to the weekly meetings? Is there any other way I can contribute to the team? There's a place for everyone on the steel bridge team, regardless of your schedule. Will it cost me any money to join the team? The steel bridge team is financed through charitable fundraising from the USU College of Engineering and private institutions. To travel with the team to regional and national competitions, you must have a student membership of ASCE. All travel costs will be covered for ASCE members. How do I sign up for ASCE? Membership is $6.00 per semester, and you can sign up in the CEE office. What are the benefits of joining steel bridge? Some perks, just to name a few:
