Itchy Mouth Itchy Feet This world is huge and there is so much to learn. I aim to inspire others to get out of their comfort zones and go out there to explore, travel and learn.

I truly believe food is one of the best ways to connect with people. Just a smile, a quick nod or a thumbs up when you had something delicious transcends any language barrier, gender, race or nationality. One could often quickly make an instant connection or friendship when you have a common interest in food. Food is also one of the means you get to learn one's culture. Thousands or hundreds of ye

ars of culmination of culture and wisdom are often reflected in food. It is through food, you get to catch a glimpse of how the locals eat, why certain ingredients are used in cooking, how climate affects the way they eat, so on and so forth. I really enjoy tasting and learning about the various ethnic foods and their cultures that the migrants have brought with them. Thanks to them, the world has become a global melting pot of cultures and people are slowly opening up to accepting and gaining more awareness about food and cultures from other countries. Travelling and learning about the various traditions and cultures are my biggest passion and interest in life. I hope I can connect with more like-minded people and let's work hard together to achieve our dreams!

Mexican night 🇲🇽
An ambitious and fun attempt to make two different types of taco.
The first one was with caramelised pork belly in orange juice, served with mashed avocado, red onion and cilantro vinegarette and crushed peanuts on the tortilla 😋😍 the sweetness and tanginess of the pork belly went really well with the acidity from the vinegarette and the creaminess of the avocado...
The second one was with caramelised pork mince seasoned with cumin, chilli, coriander, etc, served with mashed kidney beans, tomato and coriander salsa, jalapeños and cheese 😋
Not sure if these recipes were authentic Mexican, but they taste pretty good to me🤣
I would call it a pretty successful attempt!

First time visiting Berlin! It definitely feels like a different world compared to other parts of Germany! Loving it's multi-faceted neighborhoods, multiculturalism, diversity and dynamism! I particularly liked the maze-like courtyards, known as the "Berlin's Höfe". They seem like different worlds filled with art galleries, cafes, bars, restaurants, unknown alleyways, shops, etc all lie hidden behind the facades of ordinary-looking buildings, running in parallel with the hustle and bustle of the streets outside the courtyards.

Unagi hitsamubushi feast
Grilled eel eaten three ways!
Located in an unassuming food hall within a shopping mall, this restaurant specialises in grilled unagi hitsumabushi.
Grilled with real charcoal while being dipped in their secret sauce twice, the grilled eel was slightly charred and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside.
It was an intense dining experience as it only focused on single element - Japanese freshwater eel (unagi). The rice was equally amazing, perfectly cooked to the right texture and consistency!
First way of eating is only tasting the original taste of the grilled eel itself.
Second way of eating is by adding the provided condiments such as wasabi, green onion and shredded seaweed, which gave the dish a slightly different dimension and change in taste.
Last but not least, you scoop out some rice and eel into a separate bowl and pour in some dashi broth, turning it into a whole new dish called Ochazuke!
We also ordered a side dish out of curiosity - grilled eel liver. It was aromatic with a slight crisp on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside. A great pairing with beer!

New recipe idea!
Do you have leftover Vietnamese rice papers and you don't know what to do with them other than making more Vietnamese spring rolls?
Try using them to make delicious savoury "pancakes"!
Prepare some veges of choice, I used bean sprouts and chives. Break an egg into the vege and mix well. Season accordingly, I used a few dashes of fish sauce and white pepper.
Then prepare your protein of choice. I prepared some minced prawns mixed in with some tapioca starch for the mince to bind well. Season with salt according to taste. Add in vege-egg mixture with the minced prawn and mix well.
Heat up the pan with a tablespoon of cooking oil. Then grab a piece of rice paper (if you have the standard big round one, cut it into 4 quarters). I then spread the minced prawn mixture onto the rice paper and lay them onto the cooking pan.
Fry for a few minutes on both sides.

This place reminds me of the typical small restaurants you'd find in Japan selling simple yet hearty meals. The food here hits all the right spots!
The sushi may look nothing out of the ordinary, but the rice was really well-seasoned and most importantly moist! The miso soup was also warm, comforting and flavourful.
The inari sushi was worth a mention as the combination of the vinegar-seasoned rice and sweetened tofu skin (Age-Yuba) was perfect!
Last but not least, the soup udon was simply yet delicious!
All the dishes tasted like how they'd taste in Japan, thanks to the all-Japanese kitchen staff.
They also sell individually-packed sushi and handmade Onigiri (japanese rice balls on shelves for takeaway or dining in.
The food there is also reasonably priced, for all the dishes that we ordered, it only cost about 25 euros.
All in all, highly recommend for a taste of Japan in Hamburg!

Birthday weekend celebration started with a fantastic Japanese meal at Matsumi, one of the best Japanese restaurants in Europe, often visited by celebrities such as Roger Federer and the likes. No joke, the sashimi was one of the freshest I've had outside Japan, so umami and melt-in-your-mouth tender!
1. A5 Wagyu beef (part of the Sukiyaki yet)
2. Pickled konbu and cucumber in ponzu
3. Yakitori (chicken on skewers in Teriyaki sauce)
4. Assortment of sushi (highlight for me was the scallops)
5. Black sesame ice cream for dessert.

North Eastern German cuisine features mainly potatoes cooked in various ways - boiled, roasted, fried, mashed, in soups, etc. The Kartoffelhaus Schwerin specialises exclusively in potato-based German dishes.
1. Braised pork belly stuffed with baked plums with a kind cooked purple cabbage salad (Blaukraut/Rotkohl) and fried potatoes. The flavour profile of the pork belly actually resembled the Asian sweet and sour gravy, really hearty and appetising!
2. Soljanka - a soup dish originated from Ukraine and Belarus that became an Eastern German staple during the Communist era. It's made from tomatoes, paprika, pickled cucumber and its juice and slivers of ham. It's sweet, tangy and slightly spicy, the combination of flavours kind of reminded me of Thai soups.

Fun-filled day to celebrate his birthday! Glad that you loved all the surprises 😆😉
First stop - Chocoversum where we were introduced to the world of chocolate - including the bad side of the chocolate trade. Then we got to make customised chocolates on our own using unusual ingredients like chilli flakes and red peppercorns!
Dinner at the Italian restaurant O'Pote which serves very flavourful and delicious South Italian dishes.
Ended the day with the musical fountain show at the Planten und Blomen.
