✨ Welcoming Scarlett Medrano to the Hawaii Salsa & Bachata Congress! ✨

Born in New York City and partially raised in the Dominican Republic, Scarlett began her salsa journey at age 13 with Nelson Flores. She later trained with the legendary Santo Rico Dance Company under Tomas Guerrero and Yamulee Dance Company under Osmar Perrones, performing and teaching around the world in countries like India, France, Egypt, and Colombia.

Scarlett’s passion for dance and teaching led her to create Body GROOVEMENT, a unique fusion of Salsa On2 with styles like Hip-Hop and Lite Feet, inspired by her Harlem roots. Now as the founder of GROOVEMENTfx, Scarlett continues to bring her dynamic style and expertise to dancers worldwide.

With 14 years of experience teaching Salsa and Bachata, Samir has been an integral part of Hawaii’s dance scene since 2013. Starting his teaching career in Miami, he has expanded his craft over the years to include ballroom, contemporary, hip hop, and zouk, continually growing as a dancer and instructor.

As the owner and main instructor of School of Salsa in Honolulu, Samir hosts Bachata Lovers, Oahu’s largest weekly Bachata event, and leads Underground, an intensive Saturday Bachata training designed to challenge and inspire dancers.

Grant here. I think it's only fitting this is the first full performance video we upload. Nestor Manuelian was a great dancer, an incredible teacher, but most importantly a close friend. He along with his wife Rebecca had been part of Salsa In Hawaii since our 2nd Congress in 2016. Sadly he passed away just a few weeks before this year's congress.
