I haven’t been to Universal Orlando since 2020. It was fun to get back and enjoy some time in the parks. And an excellent time of year! Great weather and decent crowds. We stayed at the beautiful Sapphire Falls Resort (my first stay at this resort). Day 1 we headed to Volcano Bay. We enjoyed multiple laps around both the TeAwa and Kopiko Wai rivers, did all of the raft slides, the Waturi Beach and enjoyed some Poke for lunch and our favorite, CowFish, for dinner at CityWalk. Day 2 we spent the day at Islands of Adventure where the longest wait we had (without an express pass) was 40 minutes. We enjoyed the VelociRaptor, Skull Island: Reign of Kong, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Flight of the Hippogriff, Hagris’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, The Cat in the Hat, had Gyros for lunch, a frozen butter beer for a snack and dinner at Margaritaville at CityWalk. Day 3 we enjoyed a day at Universal Studios where we enjoyed Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Transformers, The Ride 3D, Race through New York with Jimmy Fallon, Revenge of the Mummy, Escape from Gringots, The Hogwarts Express, Men in Black Alien Attack, E.T. Adventure, lunch at Mel’s Diner. We saved a time in lines by using the single rider lines which essentially cut our wait on a few lines down to about 5 minutes. We had a giant milkshake at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium, and finished with dinner at Vivo Italian Kitchen. I wasn’t great at taking pictures because we we having too much fun! Roughly 39,000 steps in 3 days!!
I also completed my training on Epic Universe, the next Universal Orlando Theme Park, set to open in May of 2025. I’m all refreshed on Universal so let me know when you’d like to go! I’ll be happy to get you there!

One last mention of our amazing trip to Italy and Switzerland is to thank our amazing Adventure Guides, Marcello and Joy. Every Adventures by Disney itinerary includes the assistance of some amazing, up for anything, know the lay of the land, full of joy guides. This was actually our second trip with Joy, and she lived up to her name, once again. We are so grateful for the job they do to make our experience seemless, worry-free and memorable.

Day 9 of our Italy and Switzerland Adventure. We took a Gondola up the side of Mt Titlis. It was a foggy day. Cows in Switzerland actually do wear bells so while we couldn’t see anything, every once in a while we could hear the cows grazing below us. We switched out of the gondola halfway up the mountain to ride a rotating cable car. At the top of the mountain, we ventured inside a glacier cave. Really a cold but interesting experience. Then we had lunch at the Panorama Restaurant at the top of the mountain. After lunch we descended the mountain. We wandered to the train station to look for some last minute souvenirs then headed back to the hotel to clean up for our farewell dinner. We took a boat across Lake Lucerne to our restaurant where we enjoyed a troop of yodelers and horn players and had one last meal with our fellow adventurers.

Day 8 of our Italy and Switzerland adventure was a bit sad as we said goodbye to the beautiful town of Zermatt. I hope to return one day! We made our way through a lot of hairpin turns through the mountains along with hundreds of people participating in a bicycle race. (Hats off to Giuseppe, our bus driver!) we stopped along the way to enjoy a picnic lunch, finally making our way to Lucerne where we headed to our Swiss chocolate making experience. We moved on to our cool hotel then headed out for a walking tour of Lucerne, another lovely town! We had dinner on our own and enjoyed some long awaited schnitzel!

Day 7 of our Italy and Switzerland Adventure. This was one of the best vacation days! It was a beautiful, clear day and the Matterhorn came out in all its glory! We took an early stroll through town then headed to our zip line and ropes course park. I zip lined in the Alps!! Sorry, I couldn’t take my phone, the harness was too snug! We took a hike through a gorge, then we went to a great crepe place for lunch. Our afternoon involved taking a cog train to the peak of the mountain. An amazing experience having family pictures at 10,000 feet. Breathtaking views! (Breathing at altitude is noticeably harder!) We finished the day eating dinner at the hotel with the group.

Day 6 of our Italy and Switzerland adventure- We departed Italy and took a motor coach through the Simplon Pass. It was a rainy trek but made it to the train station. We boarded a train to climb the mountain to Zermatt. Zermatt is a beautiful little town that doesn’t allow cars. We got off the train and went to enjoy our Fondue lunch. We had the afternoon to check in to our gorgeous hotel and wander through the shops in town. We enjoyed dinner on our own and spent a quiet, relaxing evening in.

Day 5 of our Italy and Switzerland adventure. We started our day by taking a boat to Isola Bella to visit the Palazzo Borromeo and its beautiful gardens. Then we cruised over to the Isola Pescatori to visit the little fishing village and enjoy lunch. We went back to Stresa for a taste of Italy experience at La Cambusa Wine shop, a family owned shop. We tasted various spice blends, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and some local wines. After buying up the store, we took a short walking tour of Stresa and headed off to dinner and more gelato.

Day 4 Italy & Switzerland Adventure. Our day started with a trip to Como, Italy. We started with really fun class on making gnocchi and pasta. We enjoyed a lovely pasta lunch with lasagne (apparently béchamel is the best way to make it) and some fresh gnocchi. So good! Then we took a boat cruise around Lake Como and learned some history and current residents of the area. We finished the day with a short walking tour of Como and dinner al Fresco.

From the “S” family, who recently returned from their trip to Universal Orlando Resort, “This is our second trip we’ve planned with Deanna (well, more than that, if you count the Disney Covid ones we had to cancel!) and she’s been so helpful with answering our questions and letting us know things we never even knew to ask about. She makes it so easy to plan/take trips with our family and we have loved having her expertise!”

Hotel Xcaret Arte in Playa del Carmen is an exquisite, all-inclusive resort! The resort pays homage to Mexican artist and their craft. You can enjoy art displays and classes throughout the resort. The architecture is unique and beautiful. The resort has 901 rooms but each room somehow feels like a private oasis. The food is very good. As a guest of the resort you can take advantage of the Adventure parks as well! There is no end to the activities you can take advantage of. There is also an abundance of opportunity to relax and unwind at the pools or extraordinary spa! Would you like to know more or quote a stay for yourself? Contact me at [email protected].
