Do you have a kid between 8 to 10 years old? Do they have an opposite gender sibling between 6 and 12?

If you answered yes to BOTH of these questions, you may be eligible to participate in an OSU Department of Psychology research study!

The study will take place on the OSU main campus, and will require around 6 hours of your family’s time. The study will consist of 2 visits, approximately 2 – 2 ½ hours each and include play-based and computer tasks, surveys, and collection of heart rate data. Each participating family will receive at least $50 per session with the opportunity to earn up to $75 for the first session.

Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is one of the strongest predictors of future su***de attempts, and is predominant in pre-adolescent to adolescent girls. Our research has found differences in brain volume between girls who engage in NSSI and those who don’t.
