Dockfoams can become very heavy when they get waterlogged and the longer they sit, the outside plastic breaks down. When that plastic breaks down or is broken, the foam inside breaks apart and escapes into nature. We always retrieve Dock foams if we can to keep them away from our wildlife and to keep from being floating hazards when water levels are up. We had to make quite the journey to get this one but it was good exercise and pretty fun. Burgess Falls in Sparta TN has quickly become a very popular place!! 🤩 While we are out in the winter time though we often find people who are out there on the lake unprepared and aren’t aware of what will be in store for them. Here’s a quick video on (part of) the hike portion from where you park your kayak in November until the water levels are brought back up in the spring. Burgess Falls is on Center Hill Lake, which is man controlled, and is brought down to a winter pool very slowly starting in late June. By November there is a 3/4th mile hike from where you park your kayak to the bottom of Burgess. You can typically only paddle the full way to the bottom from sometime in April/May until the beginning of July. (In a normal season). **The lake is used for flood control, so water levels will be impacted by flooding. ****Please be safe if doing any paddling in the winter time and always be prepared for where you are going and be prepared for emergencies like falling in the water (always wear your life jacket 💖)**You cannot reach the bottom of Burgess Falls from Burgess Falls State Park, (but you can view it from the top) ..waterway is the only way to reach the bottom of Burgess 🥰#burgess #burgessfalls #explore #travel #bucketlist #winter #kayak #kayaking #hiking #hike #outdoors #outside #bucketlistadventures #adventure #hikers
