Junebug Company was founded in 2014 by Sophie Ammann, Rosanne Briens and Erin O’Reilly. The three dancers studied together at the Ballet Junior de Genève in Switzerland and, following a choreographic evening organized by Ballet Junior encouraging its dancers to create their own works, they decided to continue their collaboration. They are different dancers, each with their own path, their own stor
y, their own way of moving. And yet it is by dancing together that they found a precious bearing on which to construct their own personal dance. Indeed, they are three dancers in harmony with each other. It is this individuality that they wish to honour, by bringing forth their common vision of dance – dance as a living, breathing, human experience, accessible to all. Junebug Company is a company without pretention, born out of the honest desire to dance; it’s a craving that takes hold of everyone at some point or another, and which can only be satisfied by letting the body explore its own language: a language that finds consciousness elsewhere, far away, in a place where one's breathing keeps pace with the song of one's feet and the beating of one's heart. Junebug Company’s first creation Harmony in Blues has so far been featured in two prominent dance festivals in Switzerland (Fête de la Danse and Fête de la Musique). It will next go on tour to the Cottier Dance Project in Glasgow, as well as the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh this August, and was chosen to participate in the Plateforme Inci-Danse in Fribourg (CH) this October. Junebug Company is also a member of the BudGE! collective of independent dance artists in Geneva.
