It's funny (NOT!) how central heating systems always break in the winter ❄️☃️❄️
Do I stay in a cold house? Do I attempt to light the fire and make all sorts of mess? OR...
Do I check into a hotel if this thing takes a long time to be fixed?🤔

Did you know that according to legend, the town of St Emilion was founded by a monk from Brittany who sought refuge in a cave in a place called Ascum Bas in the 8C. After making a miracle, he fled his notoriety. His name was Emilion. He lived as a hermit, dedicating the rest of his life to worship and performing miracles which earned him a following. The village was named St Emilion after his death. The Benedictine monks who succeeded Emilion, under the influence of a local lord, dug an underground church: the monolithic church.

Did you know that the very first gelateria in Paris was opened by a Sicilian fisherman? In 1686, a Sicilian fisherman named Francesco Procopio dei Coltelli, produced the first gelato maker. Café Procope was the name of the gelato café that he opened in Paris. It sold gelato and coffee to tourists and natives of Paris, including literary icons such as Voltaire and Rousseau. Café Procope still exists up to this time and it is is still very much open to serve you in case you travel to Paris. It is at 13 Rue de l'Ancienne Comédie, 75006 Paris.

On 8 June 1738, Turenne was sold to Louis XV to pay the gambling debts of Charles Godfrey, the last of the Viscounts of La Tour d'Auvergne family. Thus ended the quasi-independence of this last French stronghold. The Viscounty's subjects became subjects of Louis XV and were forced to pay taxes. The king also ordered the dismantling of the fortress of Turenne. As of the Revolution, Turenne was more like a seat of a royal provost.

Do you go back into grief mode during milestones and "moving forward" events in your life?

I moved house for the second time since my loss and even though it's the place I wanted, I feel unsettled and quite sad. Can't stop thinking about my loss even though this is a big and very happy step forward for me.

So, in an attempt to break that circle, I went for lunch in Norfolk, had a long walk on the beach and even had a drink with a fried in the evening there. Despite the glorious weather and the good day, I felt no change in my mood.

Do you have moments like that when you go though positive and happy events in your life?

Also, please note that the grief updates and all grief articles will be moved to Me, my grief and I very soon. The exact date depends on whenever BT decide to provide me with the internet speeds I signed up for.

Here's a question for you:
How many times have you moved house since your loss? This is my second one in just under 4 years.

20/10/2017

How are you all?
Just a quick update to let you know that I moved house and not been online for ages. Still here and can't wait to get the internet working properly and start writing again 👌👌👌

Hello all. How are you?
I feel like I need to explain my silence on here and on the other social media profiles.
Lost Peony is an amazing site and I love it but...
It offers a mixed selection of articles on different topics which are related to one another but that connection is not necessarily obvious.
So, to save the confusion and make it easy for you, I have decided to move the grief articles to memyfriefandi.com and leave lostpeony.com to be a travel blog.
You won't see any immediate changes as it will take me a while to migrate the content but as soon as it's done, you will be the first ones to know.
Please feel free to have your say re this separation of content. Thank you and I look forward to reading your comments and suggestions 👍

This is ongoing for me 👋🏌️‍♂️👋

30/08/2017

Like some of you, I have been going though some challenges these past few weeks. Nothing bad, just life. Yesterday I was so tired that I had to stop and have a nap in the middle of the day!
Today, I decided to take care of myself and rest even though it's Wednesday. I had a sit down after gym and breakfast. Then I had an early lunch and a nap. After that, I changed my bed (again!) and decided to clean the limescale off the bathroom taps... with vinegar as the stuff from the shop didn't do anything. Then I watched a documentary on Netflix about minimalism and went for a drive, and quick shop before I had my supper.
I wouldn't say that I feel particularly energised but I certainly feel more rested, both physically and mentally. I was stressing too much.
If you are going through a rough patch, allow yourself a day off. Do nothing else but things that help you relax and recharge. It's important to do that. 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♂️🧘‍♂️

"Happiness is...
not having to se the alarm for the next day."
I hope you are having a nice bank holiday weekend.👌👌👌
