Although not native to Iceland, reindeer were introduced in Iceland during the 18th century. Placed in four regions, they only survived in the highland areas of East Iceland. Sometimes it is possible to spot them while driving around the region, especially in the Hallormsstadur forest area and around Lake Lagarfljot.
If you stop in Seydisfjordur or Eskifjordur port, join us on a tour for an opportunity to meet one of these beautiful reindeer while exploring the Eastfjords!
