Luxury Travel Japan is a bespoke travel agency created with the goal of providing the finest level of service to each of our guests by designing and then deftly executing one-of-a-kind travel plans to meet their desires. Please allow me to talk about what led me to start a travel agency that would not just satisfy people, but also inspire them. I have been fascinated by the world of what I would l
ike to call “entertainment which inspires” since I was a child, which led to my first job in the entertainment industry as a radio DJ during my 20s. It was a challenge I jumped into no holds barred, and I found it to be immensely rewarding. Seeing people being entertained while also being inspired (in this case inspired to listen to new music) was incredibly rewarding and brought me great happiness. At the same time, from my teenage years, I had a keen interest in speaking English. As a high school student, I studied in the United States for a short period. There were so many experiences I wanted to talk about with my host family, but unfortunately I didn’t have the English skills to fully express myself. and improve my English. Fast forward to the present day, and I have now lived in both England and Italy, and travelled to more than twenty countries. From these experiences, I have learned how to not just converse with people from many countries, but also related to them culturally using English. After returning to Japan in my 30s, I started working in the trade business. Over the course of those years, I guided customers from America, England, Australia, India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Russia, Hong Kong, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, and more, on business trips to Kamakura, Hakone, Izu, and other areas easily accessible from Tokyo. It was most certainly here that I was bitten by the travel guide bug, so to speak, as I realized that I enjoyed pleasing the customers during their off time in Japan more than anything, and I would even ask them their requests in advance so that I could create original tours. As I entered my 40s, most of the customers I interacted with were entrepreneurs. These guests inspired me, and the feeling that “I want to start a business too” started to grow inside me. When considering what type of business I should start, I recalled a company I had worked for in the past whose sales were good, but put “profits above pleasing the customers.”
There were many, many angry complaints from customers which I had to field, and it pained me so much to have my hands tied, unable to make the customers happy. I even had trouble sleeping at night. I believed then, as I do now, that although company profits are important, a company must first please the customers and recognize their happiness to be paramount. After all, doing a good job makes customers happy and results in great word of mouth! When I considered what job could make the customers happy while also making myself happy, the answer was clearly the travel industry. But please rest assured that I am not merely a well organized travel planner with a strong customer service bent. I believe in what I do, and revel in sharing Japan’s culture with our cherished visitors. Along those lines, I am licensed to teach traditional Japanese instruments, specifically the “Koto” and “Shamisen”. Sometimes I perform at places like embassies and universities to share with foreigners the beauty of traditional Japanese instruments. The way I first became interested in learning traditional instruments was while studying in the United Kingdom, I was often asked about Japan, and finding myself embarrassingly short on answers, ended up researching Japanese culture to obtain a respectably level of knowledge. In doing so, I found myself becoming very interested in traditional Japanese performing arts, and upon returning to Japan I took the plunge and tried koto and shamisen music, which was how I got started in the field. It pleases me to be able to help customers experience the true appeal and inspiration of Japan, which Japanese people tend to take for granted after spending their entire lives surrounded by it. You will find no such nonchalance in my attitude, but I also know that a great trip is both about sharing culture and just plain having a good time. In the tours I provide, I strive to share the world of entertainment which inspires people and has fascinated me since I was a child. It is my desire, happiness, and goal to inspire people to go deeper and get more through the form of entertainment that we know as travel. This is the reason I created a travel agency that inspires. The next day, I visited Nagahama Castle in Nagahama city, Shiga Prefecture.
The castle was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, one of the most famous War Loads, in the 15th century during the Azuchci Momoyama Period.

Two-day trip to Shiga Prefecture.
The next destination was Hikne Castle, one of the 12 castles with the original Donjon and one of the five castles designated as a Japanese treasure.
Hiko-nyan is the official character of the castle.

Visited Ohmihachiman in Shiga Prefecture, well preserved historic merchant town since the 15th century, next to Kyoto.
There is a canal in the town lined with Cherry trees along it. It will be blooming between the end of March and early April. Even if you have missed it in Kyoto, you can still enjoy it here.

I joined at Japan Tourism Seminar in UAE, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.
I made a presentation and met a lot of local travel agencies.
I had a great time meeting such good people.

Site inspection of Ghibli Museum in the forest of Mitaka. The museum was full of imagination and playfulness, designed by Hayao Miyazaki. It was one of the loveliest buildings in the world.

Site inspection for Ghibli Tour for the client next week.
Sarushima is in Tokyo bay.
There are 24 islands in the bay.
Of these, 23 islands are artificial. Sarushima is only a natural island and has no residents.
Some say the Island looks like the stage of a Castle in the sky and Spirited away.
This island gives you a lot of inspiration.

Every floor on the 5th floor has so many different kinds of attractive and exciting goods.
For example, one of the floors is for only Manga, and the other is for figures.
It was so much fun that I could spend hours.

I visited Taiko-Lab in Akihabara.
It's an excellent place to learn how to hit Wadaiko, Japanese drums.
You can see their performance too.
Akihabara school is the newest, while there are schools in Aoyama.

Day 1 Akihabara a lot of maid-san in the town.
I walked to Ameya Yokocho or Ameyoko Market in Ueno.
It takes about a 15 min walk from Akihabara to Ueno Ameyoko.
I found Akihabara so exciting and attractive.

The Second Day in Boso Peninsula, Chiba.
"Kamogawa Oyama Senmaida" is the nearest terraced rice field from Tokyo.
In 1999, it was certified as one of the 100 Best Terraced Rice Fields in Japan by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Kazari-zushi is a type of Maki-zushi or rolled sushi. You'll make it as a pretty picture appears when you cut it into pieces. Kazari-zushi is the specialty of the Kamogawa area. This is a fun and delicious experience to make with local mothers.

【Takabe Shrine, Boso Peninsula, Chiba Prefecture】日本語は下です♡
Washoku, Japanese food, was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2013. After that, Japanese food accelerated its popularity and has become one of the most popular food in the world. Today I would like to introduce Takabe Shrine, which I visited on my two-day trip to the Boso Peninsula, Chiba Prefecture.
The history of Takabe Shrine dates back to the old history book "Nihon Shoki," published in 789. It is a venerable shrine that enshrines the deity of shiokara (salted and fermented fish), soy sauce, and miso, which are the foundations of Japanese cuisine.
A small shrine in a small village is very charming, and the gentle chief priest guided us.
The Boso Peninsula is surrounded by the Kuroshio current, which gives rich fish and seafood. In addition, Chiba Prefecture has a large number of sake breweries and soy sauce breweries, so I want to recommend visiting the breweries.
2013年にユネスコ無形文化遺産に登録された和食は、以後和食人気を加速させて、世界でも最も人気のある料理の一つになりました。今日ご紹介するのは、1泊二日、房総半島の旅で行った、たかべ神社です。たかべ神社の歴史は789年に発行された「日本書紀」という古い歴史書に遡ります。日本料理の基礎となる醤油、味噌、魚を発行した塩辛の料理の神様を祀る由緒正しい神社であり、現在のところに祀られたのは江戸時代の初期だそうです。
小さな村の小さな神社はとてもチャーミングで、優しい宮司さんにご案内して頂きました。
料理人の方、料理人を志す方はお参りに訪れてはいかがでしょうか。千葉県のある房総半島は、黒潮海流に恵まれた海に囲まれた魚屋魚介類の美味しい土地です。
また千葉県は酒蔵や、醤油蔵などの非常にたくさんありますので、観光の際は蔵の見学などもいかがでしょうか。

【Boso Peninsula tour, day 1, Hishikawa Moronobu Museume】日本語は下♪
Ukiyo-e, a woodblock print that represents traditional Japanese art, began in the Edo period and is still loved by people worldwide. Ukiyo-e started in the Edo period, during the national isolation policy, and many unique Japanese cultures flourished, centering on Edo, the world's leading metropolis even at that time. Multicolor printing was invented, which made it possible to print many pictures, and many ukiyo-e prints were exported at the Paris Exposition in 1967. And their boldly structured patterns and vivid colors were admired by Monet, Gauguin, and many other European Impressionist painters.
Ukiyo-e was born by a painter Hishikawa Moronobu (1630-1694), from South Boso Peninsula. He is famous for his painting of a woman in a beautiful kimono looking back, called "Mikaeri Bijin", but he is not so well known as the person who invented and popularized ukiyo-e. I didn't know as well until visiting this time as a fam trip.
I was excited to visit the Museum of Hishikawa Moronobu memorial hall. It was a small museum, but the director kindly explained and showed us beautiful works that you can't see anywhere else. You can also try making prints. You can deepen your knowledge of wood printmaking, so why not give it a try?
日本の伝統芸術を代表する木版画である浮世絵は江戸時代に始まり、今なお世界中の人に愛されています。浮世絵が始まったのは、江戸時代、鎖国政策の中、当時でも世界を代表する大都市、江戸を中心に多くの日本独自の文化が花開きました。多色刷りが発明され、多くの絵をプリントすることができパリ万博では多くの浮世絵が輸出され、その大胆な構成の図柄と色鮮やかな画風は、モネ、ゴーギャンを始め多くのヨーロッパの印象派の画家に影響を与えました。
その浮世絵の誕生は、南房総出身の菱川師宣（1630-1694）という画家でした。彼は「見返り美人」と呼ばれる、美しい着物を着た女性が振り返っている姿の絵で有名ですが、浮世絵を発案して広めた人物としてはあまり知られていません。実際私も今回初めてその事実を知り衝撃を受けました。彼の記念館である美術館があるので行ってきました。とても小さな美術館ですが、館長が丁寧にご説明頂き他に見ることのできない素晴らしい作品を見せて頂きました。また、版画体験もできます。日本では私の子供の頃は学校の美術の時間に版画の授業があり、版画作成をした楽しい思い出があります。版画の知識が深まりますのでぜひ体験してみてはいかがでしょうか。
