Opposite from humans, trees take in carbon dioxide and emit clean oxygen into the air, bringing balance to human life. In order for Earth to continue to breath, this balance needs to stay true. My goal of creating Tees4Trees is to provide a fun and easy way for you to contribute. One, mature tree can create enough oxygen to support two people annually. Each tree that you help plant will not only benefit yourself, but also contribute to our community. Not only do trees bring harmony to human life, they also provide other benefits. Trees can:
Reduce heating and cooling needs/costs
Protect against weather elements
Bring aesthetic value to our city
Help prevent soil erosion
Bring additional value to property
Clean the soil and air

At Tees4Trees we utilizes partners around Minneapolis to ensure each tree donated is planted in various parks and properties in the city. In order to create consistency for our partners we will wait to make a tree seedling purchase that coincides with their planting seasons: Spring and Fall. A couple months before planting season we will start sourcing trees from local, Minnesota growers. We provide 6-12'' seedlings protected by tubes in the ground for plantings. Benefits of utilizing tubes include: Protection for the seedlings from wind, weeds, and animals, mini greenhouses to promote straight and strong growth, ability to condition seedlings to Minnesota elements at young age while still allowing or tree survival, and an affordable way to support urban forestry. Hennepin County residents can leave their Christmas Tree next to their garbage cans for free pickup on regular collection days.

Another option is to put it out in your yard to serve as extra shelter for birds and animals until Spring, at which time you could cut up the branches and tree to use as mulch. You could even add popcorn, peanut butter, or fruit to the tree for animals during the cold, winter months!

Tees4Trees 2016 Planting is complete! The trees were planted at Upper Riverside Park (2820 S 8th St. Minneapolis, MN 55454) and replaced ash trees affected by emerald ash borer in that area.
