Other than catching the train 🚂 to a nearby town to raise a glass of cheer with a friend 🍷and attend tonight’s party, my TOP priority was to “get my assets” to La Baguette French bakery 🧑‍🍳 this morning to purchase a real, fresh, warm from the oven baguette 🥖 for tomorrow’s appetizer. This little beauty be transformed into lightly toasted garlicky slices with Brie, Onion Chutney, and crispy Portuguese Chorizo. There was a line at the door and a sense of relief 🥳 when I saw they were not sold out. All the foodies were there securing their treasures. Check that off my list‼️

When your Portuguese landlord knocks on your door with a “Sahndiii, you home?!?”. . . And proceeds to give you a box of homegrown avocados, oranges, tangerines, and lemons. No barcodes or stickers. Just the juiciest and creamiest, most delicious fruit you can imagine!

This week I decided to play with Halloumi. Originating from Cyprus, it’s a salty, semi-soft cheese made from a combination of goat and sheep milk. It’s a good meat alternative, and squeaks in your mouth like curds. BTW, autocorrect put “turds”instead of “curds.” 🤦🏻‍♀️ I broiled, sautéed, grilled, and today fried it with sautéed mustard greens, garlic, pears, and walnuts. Not bad!! Will explore more in the future. Personally, I like the 1960s inspired serving tray in my Portugal apartment.

When you live outside the U.S., cloth dryers are an oddity. 😳 So, you choose the best weather to wash and hang outside to dry your flannel sheets and towels, lest they take 3 days to dry and get musty. Looks like Thursday is “the day.” I’ll be washing early to give sheets the best chance to dry. 🤞🏻🙏 Showing Celsius and Fahrenheit!
