On Remembrance Sunday you can re-live World War I in Whitehall and meet the politicians who ran the show - close to each other and far from the front. Be there where men blocked the streets answering their call to enlist. Remember those amongst them and in the conscripted armies who died, and then u...

Final call for what could be the very last running of our Somme remembrance walk - this Remembrance Sunday 13th November, starting at 1pm from Somerset House! It should be a very special day. You can book by clicking through to the Eventbrite booking page below:

Today, on Remembrance Sunday when the atmosphere in Whitehall is at its most reflective, we remember the men who fought and died at the Battle of the Somme. One hundred years ago, on 1st July 1916, tens of thousands of British troops left their trenches and walked methodically towards the German mac...

It was a memorable WWI Walk of Remembrance around Whitehall on Remembrance Sunday, led by Westminster Guides Charlie Forman, Emmanuel Lebaut and Mark Lubienski. It's always a very special day when the fallen are remembered in our capital city, and when we have the privilege of recounting some of those stories.

Still buzzing after the debut of our new walk 'The Home Front: City Life in the Great War' in the City of London this morning, as part of Open Garden Squares Weekend! It was encouraging to have such a large, and keenly interested, group with us on the walk. The group heard many stories of City life, including about the financial crisis of July 1914, recruitment of stockbrokers for the Western Front, a brave German spy and how the Silvertown explosion lit up the London sky. Greatly looking forward to the next rendition!

Less than five days to go until Open Garden Squares Weekend! Only a week to go until we run our 'World War I - Walk of Remembrance' in Whitehall, and when we will debut our new walk, 'The Home Front: City Life in the Great War' in the City of London. All the walks are activities that you can enjoy as part of Open Garden Squares, and you can book through this link: http://www.opensquares.org/activities/guidedwalks.html

The City walk has proved very popular and is now fully booked, but there are still places left on the Whitehall walk, where you will hear about the events of the July Crisis of 1914, and see how the Great War is remembered.

Whilst many famous people are buried in the surviving seventeenth- and eighteenth-century sections, an interesting post-war garden was created from the area heavily bombed in the war. Many wild flowers as well as modern planting complement a fascinating history.

10/02/2015

We'll be running our 'World War I - Walk of Remembrance' on Saturday 25th April. That day will be a very poignant day in Whitehall since it's ANZAC day, and there will be wreath-laying at the Cenotaph and a service in Westminster Abbey to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the fateful Gallipoli landings. Details of this walk, and others later in the year, will follow shortly and will include the debut of a second WWI themed walk in another part of London.

It was a memorable day on Remembrance Sunday, giving our "World War I - Walk of Remembrance" to the members of the award-winning Christian Connection dating site. It was a privilege, and a unique experience, to be able to tell the story of the Great War on the day when the fallen were remembered

04/11/2014

On Remembrance Sunday we'll be leading our "World War I - Walk of Remembrance" through Whitehall, for members of the Christian Connection award-winning online dating site. It should be a most poignant day.
