Sistas-Wit-Style is a Caribbean Folk Performing Dance Company along with Carnival Band called Sistas

Based out of Oakland, Sistas-Wit-Style was established in October 2000 with dance forms originating from Trinidad and Tobago. Sistas-Wit-Style is a Folk Performing Dance Company founded by Merissa Lyons (CEO), Kianna Rachal (CFO), Valencia Newton (COO) and managed by Annabelle Goodridge. We are dedicated to providing youth, teens, & adults with a Caribbean cultural experience that enables them to

make a positive difference through dance. Our Carnival band Sistas-Wit-Style and Associates was started in 2004. SWS&A has taken first place in multiple Carnival parades and holds the title for Carnival Queen of 2014. Through our carnival band we provide a support system for youth and adults to fight obesity, channel their energy to something positive and “free up” themselves. We are heavily involved with spreading the Caribbean culture in our community and across the nation. We have received commendations from respected Congress members, State of California Board of Directors, and the City of Oakland for our achievements.

This Saturday Oakland Carnival at Mosswood Park. All SWS masqueraders (costumes and Tshirts) are welcome to come and parade in the park with us. Call time starting at 12:30pm

Come in full costume and ready to have some fun. Bring your blankets and chairs. ☀️☀️

💃💃🕺🕺Choreography dancers will rehearse on Friday 6/3 @ 6pm at Township commons. (Thursday class is cancelled)

For those interested in LA Carnival!!! No parade happening but there will be a festival on June 26th! See details below

😀⭐️❤️The Los Angeles Culture Festival is a FREE event on Sunday June 26th (12pm-6pm), created in collaboration with the City of Los Angeles, District 8, and Hollywood Carnival, as we celebrate Caribbean Heritage month.

The Festival is an explosion of Cultural Fusion celebrating the rich and diverse colorful culture of the Caribbean. The event will feature an array of arts and crafts, Caribbean cuisine, dance, breathtaking costumes, along with music and performances from some of the best Caribbean entertainers.

The Caribbean Heritage Festival is free to the public and will be held at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza (upper parking deck), 3650 W. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, LA, CA, 90008. This event will boast a family friendly environment, so everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy the rich Cultures of Caribbean. We are anticipating approximate 6000 people in attendance.
