America By Road America By Road travel journal blog. Exploring America, starting from the nearest road. We enjoy capturing our memories through images and words.

The purpose of America By Road is to act as a dynamic journal of our travels and adventures as we take advantage of a couple of America's amazing commitments to its people: great park systems and an amazing network of roads. It is fun to reflect back on some of our trips, and it is even more fun to share them with friends and families. If you happen to have stumbled in here without having met us f

irst, feel free to explore. Maybe you will see something that sparks your interest in the same spirit of adventure that we have fallen in love with over the years.

Just a reminder that our country was built by immigrants and their descendants. It always bothers me when people who are descendants of immigrants want to prevent immigrants from having a shot at the same great opportunities and freedoms that America has to offer.

It's National Hispanic Heritage Month Between September 15th and October 15th! We are celebrating the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans. We wanted to take this chance to highlight a couple of our staff members here at Fossil Butte National Monument.

Katelin Reyna-Galindo is our Biological Science Technician. She helps manage the invasive species on the monument. When asked what working for the National Park Service at Fossil Butte means to her, Katelin says "Coming to Fossil Butte and working as Biotech means bringing a unique perspective while looking at diverse environments while maintaining its cultural heritage and ecosystems. Working in natural resources for me means giving voices to latina women."

Tano Jose Palazzo is a seasonal Interpretive Ranger. He loves working with fossils and discussing all things paleontology with our visitors. When asked about his love for paleontology Tano says "As someone who's always dreamed of pursuing paleontology as a career and is currently doing so, it is to my understanding that the field isn't currently very diverse. Paleontology, and science as a whole, can greatly benefit from the minds of people from all corners of the world working together!"
