I have been sewing since my feet could reach the pedal. My career path has lead me in many different directions, with a BS in apparel, merchandising, design and production and an MBA I have worked as a manufacturing engineer everywhere from the apparel industry to the defense industry. Currently I enjoy taking care of my family and home, but I could not keep from pursuing my love of sewing. I am p

These stationary Roman shades were installed a few days before Thanksgiving. My client wanted statement window treatments in her new home. Both of us were very happy with how beautiful they turned out.

This was one incredible installation! My client chose pinch pleated panels on traversing custom rods for her office and daughter’s bedroom. The curved rods in the window seat were a challenge, but the end result is worth it!

I’m back to hand stitching! The client chose two-finger Euro pleats. With this style, the hand tacking can be done at the front top or at the top of the pleat. I chose to tack at the front to give more stability of the layers of sheer and translucent buckram. These 230” wide panels are now fan-folded and bagged for installation.

I’m excited to be back in the workroom after a few days away! One reason to choose a custom workroom is the attention to detail. This is a striped sheer fabric for traversing panels. In order to keep the stripes lined up at the hems, all hems are hand sewn. This process takes hours longer than using a blind hem sewing machine.

This was such a fun install in my client’s guest house. Everything looks beautiful! Blackout shades were imperative in the bedroom to help with the bright sun. Comfort was also a goal and thick window cushions were added with many pillows. You’ll notice the huge white Roman shade that I installed grommets on last week. Be sure to watch the video of it in operation.

Today, I’m preparing this large blackout, motorized Roman shade. It is 86”wide x 72” long and going into a bedroom. This shade is a reverse mount, which means the fabric will be attached to the back of the dust board, enabling it to be closer to the window glass. The motorized lines need to pass through the back to the front, hence grommets.

I’ve been on the mend over the past two weeks due to melanoma surgery between my toes. It has been really hard to not work for most of this time. I was able to install a cornice over a kitchen sink (very carefully) yesterday. I love this Charlotte Fabric pattern and how beautiful it looks!
