Page Update: Due to the continuing success of the online body & mindset system/community (before and during lock-down 😷) is why the fitness holiday sideline has eased and why I'm rarely on this account these days. Birthday Week: Every year I usually set myself a little challenge and as this week I will be having a birthday :o 🎂
So as another year passes and I will be another year older I like to set myself a challenge to see what the body is capable of and how it compares to previous years!
Occasional challenges are great although if you have been following for a while you will know that my (5pillar) work smarter system is all about health and longevity...
This 'balanced' system allows me to stay in shape ALL year NOT just for a short term transformation etc. This is why we have a body and mindset system in place, that's not JUST about 'the look'
When you have that all important balance and well-being physically and mentally (that a lot more people have woke up to during lock-down) the by product is a strong pain free body that not only looks but also FEELS great!
Why its perfect for the guys I work with..
That said, just like everyone else I still ate and drank a little more than usual during lock-down even though I continued to exercise and move regularly. Which is another reason I wanted to do the birthday challenge as it gave me clarity (clear goal) focus, a FIXED deadline and that leverage.
Even if it is the (aesthetic) leverage of posting this picture as that helped me stay even more mindful of what I consume especially when I wanted (not needed) that extra beer or chocolate etc
Still with such personal challenges I'm not smashing (just speeding up the ageing process) with hours of endless exercise/gyms or restrictive diets (I haven't stepped foot in a traditional gym for years, as I'm not overly fond personally, as I don't need too) I'm not having/wanting to bulk and strip down, this isn't about health..
Its about building a better relationship with 'regular exercise' and sustainable MINDFUL eating/drinking and during this challenge (that was only a couple of weeks anyway) I have just made my regular exercise a little more progressive, walked a bit further than usual etc, as well staying EVEN more MINDFUL of what I consume, due to that leverage.
I have still continued to enjoy my fav's without restricting or without using treat meals (you are not your dog so don't reward yourself with food) as everything all in balance (that word again) and moderation. Unlike back in the day when I didn't have this balance and would have sedated with drink and junk food etc
Sure, if I'm going on holiday or start to feel a bit sluggish and bloated I will be even MORE conscious and mindful of what I consume, this is about taking responsibility!
Alongside balance, the key word is 'conscious' - of how I feel not just how I look (although we all want to look good!) as my leverage as discussed previously is how I feel and this system (though not perfect) makes me feel empowered and strong both physically and mentally to take on all of life's challenges, which is my leverage right there..
All comes back to what you want and why - clarity!
