Lettered Life Designs: Travel Inspired Art
Welcome to Lettered Life Designs, I am so happy you are here! The story of our work begins with travel, getting out of your comfort zone, and seeing the world. My husband and I grew up in Grand Rapids, Mi where we share some amazing memories at places like Mackinac Island, nearby Chicago, and our favorite local restaurants. After school was done, we had
this desire and calling to leave what we knew, and move to Florida. We wanted to travel, to see the world and to enjoy the journey...wherever that may bring us. We knew that there was a big world out there and that God had called us to see it and to explore and to love it. A year after we moved to Florida, I began decorating our home with pictures of us on vacations and from back home in Michigan and I realized I wanted to add something more to show our journey through life and all of the places that are so special to us. Something to commemorate and honor all of the places that made us who we are and brought us to this point. I made the first Lettered Life Designs subway sign by hand using acrylic paint on a 14"x37" board. The sign was black and white and displayed a list of places like where we met, the beach back home we spent countless hours at, our favorite restaurant we would frequent at 2 am with our best friends, the date we moved to Florida, and the address of our first home. I hung the sign in our home and got many compliments on it and lots of "oooo could you make me one of those?" I instantly loved the idea of sharing my passion of travel and making art with people. I started making signs for bridal showers, weddings, and Christmas gifts. The idea led me to incorporate signs for Baby's and the Collegiate Collection.
