Under the direction of Founder and Principal, David Lige, Inner Sports Leadership works with athletes to develop the intangible skills that enhance motivation & performance excellence inside & out. For years David Lige has been honing the diverse set of skills that serve him as he coaches others to make the most of their sports, businesses, and lives. In 1994 Dave received his Bachelors Degree in
Human Kinetics (BHK) from the University of British Columbia. The program, which focused on instruction, coaching, and exercise management, gave him valuable interpersonal as well as fitness experience and helped move him along the path to coaching as a career. In 1999 Dave received his Masters Degree of Divinity (MDiv) from Regent College, an affiliated college of UBC. During the degree program Dave concentrated in counselling and personal development. At the conclusion of his studies he was granted the Pastoral Care scholarship, a prestigious award presented to only one in a group of 200 graduating students for work that positively impacts the wider community. In 2001 Dave was awarded a Diploma in Coaching and Performance Enhancement from Life Skills Canada following an intensive six month program. During that time he completed over 500 hours of training in group facilitation and professional development. Not satisfied with degrees alone, Dave put his talents to work in the meantime. In 1999 he began working as a Kinesiologist, developing active rehabilitation plans for injured clients. He also started work as a personal fitness trainer, crafting intensive, sport-specific programs to improve athletic performance. Following his passion for instruction, Dave also started business coaching in 2002. To date he has worked with a number of companies to improve, in addition to leadership development, management functions such as human resources, staff training, and staff development. Most recently, in 2005, Dave brought together all of his passion and experience in group facilitating, personal training, and leadership development to create Inner Sports Leadership. Within this unique program he has had the incomparable opportunity to see many of his students move on to professional level sports. In addition to his professional work, Dave is an avid athlete and strives to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle. He has played at a high level of amateur sports throughout his life. He was on a highly successful provincial AAA basketball team in high school and has won accolades in for his performance as an amateur athlete in a variety of sports. At present he enjoys golf (with a handicap of 6) and running marathons. As a monthly contributor to Alive magazine, he wrote on essential issues relating to health and wellness. Dave is a firm believer in continuous development and strives to sharpen his skill set by participating in various workshops that challenge him to grow as a professional.
