In true “Laura the Explorer-style” I recently planned an epic 10-day photography adventure workshop across Nepal in association with the Unatti Foundation to benefit the Unatti group home for girls. Fellow photographer, Stephanie Waisler-Rubin, founded the Unatti foundation which is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing food, shelter and education for the multitude of orphaned and underprivileged children of Nepal.
Together, we came up with the idea for my photography workshop in Nepal and in addition to donating our time and love, we built into the fee to attend that each participant sponsored one girl’s education and housing for a year.
We didn't just volunteer or teach photography while on this journey, we visited an elephant sanctuary, hiked up to temples, landed on Mount Everest in a helicopter, went paragliding in Pokhara, played in the Holi festival with the girls, and had the Nepalese adventure trip of a lifetime, but the entire thread of the trip was “transformational”. We were determined to not only have our entire group come back transformed from this beautiful land and culture, but to leave these girls transformed, with help for their food and education and most importantly with the knowledge that there is more out there for them and it is possible to achieve it. Just by the act of traveling we can all make a difference in our world and help others.
So this is where you all come in. Now that we are back in our normal routine and lives in the United States, we wanted to continue our philanthropic quest to create a fundraiser to help these girls. We have so many beautiful images from our photography workshop in Nepal, that we have decided to create a limited collection of fine art prints for sale where all of the proceeds will be donated to the Unatti Foundation.
We invite you to visit our online gallery store at: https://prints.ly/
We invite you to join us on June 25th from 4-8pm in Venice at the Lee Waisler Studio, 516 Sunset Ave, Venice CA 90291 for our first Nepalese gallery fundraiser. Come learn more about the Unatti Foundation, enjoy some Himalayan food, have some cocktails, and listen to our magical tales from our trip of a lifetime!
And for those of you who can't make it in person, please support our online gallery sale or visit www.unattifoundation.org to see other ways where you can help donate to the girls!
