BIG STORM COMING 4:20 NEWCASTLE (Best Odds 9/1)
Unbeaten in 2 races at Newcastle and in good form recently over 7 furlongs. The stable is in fine form with the last 2 runners both winning at 9/2 and 8/1 respectively. It wouldn't surprise me to see the price of the horse reduce to 5/1 or less. It looks the form horse in the race.
BAJAN BEAR 5:35 DONCASTER (BEST ODDS 8/1)
Dandy Nicholls seems to have the form horse and with a good draw I expect Bajan Bear to appear late on the scene and win in style. He needs a good gallop, which he'll certainly get.
SEA SHANTY 3:45 DONCASTER (BEST ODDS 14/1)
The Hannon / Hughes partnership looks excellent value in this competitve handicap. Many have doubts about Sea Shanty's stamina and that is why he is such a good price. I think he might even improve running over 10 furlongs and is definitely worth a punt.
VENUS DE MILO 2:40 DONCASTER (BEST ODDS 6/1)
O'Brien's 4 year old looks the pick and is almost certain to improve by stepping up to 14 furlongs.
TICKING KATE 4:45 DONCASTER (BEST ODDS 8/1)
It's not often I will select a filly to beat the colts but this one looks a really good bet. Ticking Kate was disappointing last time out over a mile at Thirsk. She is now back to 7 furlongs which is her optimum trip. She certainly has the best form in the race and a price of 8/1 looks like a thieving bet to me.
SECRETINTHEPARK 4:20 LEICESTER (BEST ODDS 13/2)
He ran a cracking race last time out when 3rd of 10 beaten a length by Morache Music in a class 2 handicap at Doncaster. The handicapper has put him up just a pound for the Leicester race which is a class 3 handicap. He looks a good value bet.
BATHWICK MAN 4:10 NEWTON ABBOT (BEST ODDS 7/2)
It's a decent handicap hurdle with a few with a chance of victory. Mike Hammond's Provincial Pride is in good form and with Tony McCoy on board has to be respected, as does The Rattler O'brien who has good course form. The selection though has to be David Pipe's BATHWICK MAN, a horse in fine form on a course he relishes. I think that he's a fantastic price at 7/2, as I thought he would be nearer 7/4 or 2/1 at best.
FAST TRACK 4:40 YORK (BEST ODDS 11/2)
Fast Track was a good winner of a top class handicap at Newmarket last time out. The second in that race, Eastern Impact has since won another top class handicap at Newmarket. The form is the best of all the runners and I think there is still more improvement to come. He looks a ready made winner at a good price.
LADIES ARE FOREVER 3:00 YORK (BEST ODDS 8/1)
A really consistent mare who has won well at a higher level. She looks a good value bet.
TIGERS TALE 2:55 KEMPTON (BEST ODDS 18/1)
Tigers Tale looks the best bet of the day. A return to his favourite track should see a massive improvement in his recent form.
HEAVY METAL 1:55 ASCOT (BEST ODDS 16/1)
I fully expect Mark Johnston's horse to bounce back to form and win this high class handicap. He was unsuited by Chester last time out, but is back on his favourite course and should run well.
GONE DUTCH 8:50 KEMPTON (BEST ODDS 6/1)
John Fanshawe's 4 year old is in excellent form and should give a good account. The horse has won on 3 of his 4 visits to the course and still looks well in. The only danger to Gone Dutch is recent Ascot runner up and an outsider, Proud Chieftain, who has run some very good races at a higher level.
YOURARTISONFIRE 4:45 HAYDOCK (Best Odds 7/2)
Ken Burke's stable is flying at the moment, as is the horse. He ran a good race at Haydock last time where he finished 2nd and was placed 3rd after a stewards enquiry. He has won on 2 of his 3 visits to the course and one of those wins was in a better class race. Although his best form appears to be over a mile, 7 furlongs really does suit him well. He's not a big price, but he is good value.
Tamarillo Grove 4.30 SEDGEFIELD (BEST ODDS 11/2)
Best horse with the best form. Should go in at a good price.
ANGLO IRISH 8:10 KEMPTON (BEST ODDS 7/2)
John Gosden's, Anglo Irish has been in sparkling form recently with a good win at Kempton last month. He looks a sure thing at an excellent price. For me, any price above 2/1 is good value
THATCHERITE 3:05 BEVERLEY (BEST PRICE 10/1)
I expect Thatcherite to run a big race from the best draw. On his last trip to Beverley he beat One Boy by a short head. A similar effort should be more than enough to take the honours. I don't usually study class 4 handicaps at Beverley, but this one really stood out as a good value bet.
LEXIS HERO 2:20 CHESTER (BEST PRICE 8/1)
Richard Fahey's horse won on his last visit to Chester and a similar run should see him go very close again. He is hardly a racing cert, but he is excellent value at 8/1 and is definitely worth a punt.
PEARL BLUE 2:05 SANDOWN (BEST PRICE 10/1)
Chris Wall's 6 year old mare is in tremendous form and I expect her to win in the style she showed at Newmarket last time. She carries top weight but I don't think it will prove a hindrance, as she is a soft ground specialist who will relish the conditions.
SAN CASSIANO 4:15 RIPON (BEST ODDS 16/1)
MAYBEME 4:15 RIPON (BEST ODDS 25/1)
This looks a race between 2 course specialists who have been in good form recently. San Cassiano has been competing in better class handicaps and coming up a little short. This slight drop in class should help. Maybeme has started slowly in his last few races and has failed to get involved. She has been reunited with Andrew Elliot, the jockey who last won on her at Ripon in June. Both these horses are worth a punt and great prices.
LINKS DRIVE LADY 3:25 EPSOM (BEST ODDS 9/1)
Dean Ivory's Mare is back to form after her 2nd to Forest Edge at Newmarket. The winner of that race has since won another good handicap. Links Drive Lady looks well handicapped and should win tomorrow, The only danger appears to be Richard Fahey's Arctic Feeling, who is also in good form.
PROFESSOR 4:15 GOODWOOD (Best Odds 9/2)
Professor is the top rated horse on the official BHB figures and looks a good thing for Richard Hannon Jnr's stable. He ran okay last time out in the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury, although he was a little out of his depth, This race is more suitable for him and I can only see one outcome, A GOOD PRICED WINNER.
FIRST FLIGHT 3:05 GOODWOOD (Best Odds 9/2)
A good winner at Newmarket last time for Saeed Bin Suroor. Has only gone up 3 pounds for that success. The third horse home in the Newmarket race, Awake My Soul has since won a good handicap at Ayr. First Flight looks a very good bet.
WHISPERING WARRIOR 5:00 YORK (BEST ODDS 8/1)
He was an impressive winner at Doncaster last time out and was a good 3rd at York in his previous race. His style of running means he has to be held up and delivered for a late run which is ideal for York and it's near 5 furlong straight.
TROPICS 3:55 NEWMARKET (BEST ODDS 4/1)
Tropics won this race last year and is bang in form for a repeat success after his 2nd to Slade Power in the July Cup at Newmarket last month. How can he lose?
CLEVER COOKIE 3:50 YORK (BEST ODDS 10/1)
9th of 16 over an inadequate 10 furlongs at York last time out. Back up to 14 furlongs is a massive plus, as is his Listed win over course and distance in May. He looks a strong candidate.
HEAVY METAL 2:55 GOODWOOD (BEST ODDS 15/2)
2nd beaten a sh.hd at Goodwood last time out and previously a good winner in a top class handicap at Ascot in July. I think that Mark Johnston's 4 year old is the best horse in the race at the weights and Goodwood suits his style.
CAPTAIN MORLEY 2:40 YORK (BEST ODDS 10/1)
The David Simcock / Jamie Spencer combination should prevail as he looks well weighted and in good form.
Not a bad day today with a winner and 14/1 second. Lets hope for better tomorrow.
SOLE POWER 3:40 YORK (Best Odds 7/2)
Sole Power is the Champion sprinter at 5 furlongs and I cannot see anything getting the better of him. His only dip in form came in this race last year where he finished a close up 3rd. The soft ground was a problem and he has been withdrawn from 2 races this season because of soft ground. How the bookies have him at 3/1 plus is a complete mystery to me. I think he should be nearer 6/4 of 7/4. I can't see any other result than a win for this Champion of Champions.
GLORY AWAITS 3:05 YORK (Best Odds 14/1)
He was out of his depth in the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood last time out, before that he won a Listed race at Chester in fine style. The form of that race has worked out well with the 4th home that day, Intransigent winning a Listed race next time out. He looks excellent value.
