Horrible News!
Currently the Casa Sana President-Rosario is fighting the Dengue Fever virus. She has been rushed to the hospital today as she has started to bleed/hemorrhage.
Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus.[1] Symptoms typically begin three to fourteen days after infection.[2] This may include a high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash.[1][2] Recovery generally takes two to seven days.[1] In a small proportion of cases, the disease develops into the life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever, resulting in bleeding, low levels of blood platelets and blood plasma leakage, or into dengue shock syndrome, where dangerously low blood pressure occurs.
Casa Sana has been hit hard with Dengue, 4 elders, 2 kids and 3 of our volunteers have contracted the virus. Scores of people are dying in the Piura Region weekly.
We need your help! Medical/hospital costs are extremely high and Rosario needs to be hospitalized.

Thank you Mama and Papa Z for finding each other 40 years ago. If it weren't for you there would be no Rosario, without Rosario there would be no Casa Sana, without Casa Sana......well let's not even think about that!

Today was our weekly visit to San Sebastián.
Janet (Casa Sana kid Esthefany's mom) brought everything needed for manicures.
For some of you this may sound as a vain activity and not like something that can nurture this group of women but the stories they shared about how hard they have worked all their lives are things that we value a lot. We could hear them saying that they have never done anything for themselves, not even looking at their own reflection in a mirror.
Mondays are a special treat for the Casa Sana members because we think we go to Ssn Sebastián to offer support, but in reality it is us who learn so much about LOVE, CARE and GRATITUDE.
