As a Gay Wedding Planning Company we thought we would share a very interesting article from the NY Times. We are a “Gay” specific website but were born from our straight cousin Hawaiian Style Weddings. Actually our cousin started doing civil unions first and then developed a network of gay friendly vendors. But when same s*x weddings became legal in Hawaii is when we thought it might be best to create a specific website for those weddings and that heralded in Hawaiian Style Gay Weddings. We here at Hawaiian Style Gay Weddings make sure our clients know exactly what to do to get their marriage license. Some common misconceptions about getting a license are that the couple can get the license in their home state and bring it to Hawaii for processing. The answer to that is no, one must obtain the Hawaii License and have a Hawaii based agent process the application. Another question is closely related; can we get married legally in our home state and then do the ceremony in Hawaii. Absolutely yes, and you do not even have to bring proof of marriage. You will not be issued a legal Hawaii marriage license but we do provide a keepsake wedding certificate. Same with vow renewals, we simply do a wedding ceremony to celebrate the relationship and provide a keepsake vow renewal certificate.

Your Hawaiian Style Gay Weddings Coordinator is Pake Salmon.

One of the most important things needed to get married in Hawaii is for one to get their Hawaii marriage license. You can apply online at https://marriage.ehawaii.gov. It is a simple application and will cost $65. You can complete the application any time prior to marrying just retain the locator number, (a reference number that is provided at the successful completion of the application).

You will give that number to the marriage agent along with your photo identifications and a $5 cash stipend for the agent if not done at one of the state offices. This process will take about 10 minutes. The locator number is also used to pull up a copy of the license online. This copy is usually available within a week of the wedding.

Bring your license to the wedding a simply hand to the minister. He will do the rest.

Many of our non-USA wedding couples ask us about the validity of marriages performed in Hawaii. They are valid everywhere with the following statement from our marriage license agent Lynn Steberg in Maui : “In the State of Hawaii, USA, we do not register an intent to marry. Our marriages are valid anywhere in the world. You will receive a Certified Copy of Marriage Certificate that is mailed to you 120 days after your marriage. Should you need a copy sooner to change name or names of bride and groom, you can process an expedite request and receive the Certified Copy of Marriage in 4 to 6 weeks. Process to receive a marriage license to marry on Maui is to set up an appointment with a marriage license agent, complete application, go into license appointment together with a photo ID and the license fees of $65 in cash only. Your marriage license is issued the same day, is valid immediately and good for a 30 day period”.

This wedding took place at A-Bay (Anaeho’omalu Bay) before sunset in May. Hawaiian Style Weddings is proud to have a division dedicated to the same s*x market and we call it Hawaiian Style Gay Weddings (what a surprise). Gay Marriage is now legal in Hawaii. The Governor signed SB1 into law, making Hawaii the 15th State in the Union to recognize same-s*x marriage. The Department of Health Director says her department will be ready for the December 2, 2103 deadline to issue marriage licenses to all couples.

Aloha all. The Best Beach Wedding Location Oahu Hawaii is an easy one. Lanikai Beach is the name. Located on the Eastern Shore near Kailua is a luxury community of homes on one of the nicest beaches in all of the Hawaiian Islands. Turquoise waters, small interesting islands in the background, sandy beach are just some of the accurate descriptions of this best beach wedding venue on Oahu.

It is about a 45 minute drive from Waikiki depending on time of day making the drive. If going towards sunset time you will find big traffic from people returning home from work in Honolulu. Anyway being that the location is on the eastern shore a sunset wedding might get a colorful sky but no sun setting in the water background. So in my opinion this location is best for morning weddings and vow renewals.

We offer Lanikai beach with all of our Hawaii wedding packages. Those packages start at $399 and include the permit for the Lanikai beach, a minister of choice to perform the ceremony, 2 leis that we use in the all important lei exchange and a keepsake wedding certificate. We can of course add other services to this package including photography, video, music and more…

The community surrounding Lanikai beach in some ways has been inundated with weddings and all that goes with that. They respect that all the beaches in Hawaii are public and that public is afforded access at will. But we try to respect them at least to a certain degree and have agreed not to have limousines take our clients into this location. So do count on driving yourself! Many of our clients are concerned about privacy during their Hawaii beach wedding. Since all beaches are public in Hawaii their is no guarantee other people will not be around. Basically their are 3 solutions to this.
1. Get over it! People get married on Hawaii's beaches all the time and the public gives great respect to these ceremonies.
2. Go to a remote beach. Depending on which Island one is getting married on we can supply a list of good options.
3. Spend a little more money for a private location at a garden or waterfall or church. Many options exist just ask and we can provide that list.

Add a little something special at the conclusion of a beach wedding in Hawaii. A nice way to finish the ceremony and the immediate celebration is to have a small wedding cake and a sparkling cider toast to cap off the experience and add a tremendous photo opportunity.

This wedding was held at Makapu'u on the Eastern shore. Their limo picked them up from the Hilton Hawaiian Village and back again after the wedding. "Kalona" aka Sharon Ortiz was their minister and Kristen Hook doing photography and Pake Salmon assisting with onsite coordination and the video. At the conclusion of the wedding we served sparkling cider and cake to the couple and their 2 children.

Best month for Hawaiian Style Weddings. Many people ask us which month is best and why. I could say the usual they are all good which is essentially true but I will not cower to that and say October! Here are my reasons:
1. Great weather, not too hot and hurricane season is over
2. Less expensive! Cheaper to fly and cheaper to stay
3. Less crowded, kids are back in school
