With over seven years certified warranty experience and thousands of guitars having crossed his bench, PlankSound is owned and run by Chris Plank. Plank built his first guitar in high school from scratch based on self learned knowledge from books and other research. It wasn't until 2007, when Chris Eudy of Third Coast Guitar Service in downtown Chicago, took Plank under his wing and into the world
of his 6000 sq ft shop with over 15 techs. No detail was spared in teaching the ways of proper guitar repair. Eventually Plank was running his own one man shop in Lincoln Park under the Third Coast name, inside of the central guitar center. In 2010, Chris moved to St Louis to work for Fazios Frets & Friends as their full time technician for two years until 2012, when he moved to Nashville to start Plank Sound. By this point, so many dudes were calling chris up before even moving into town, he had a stack of guitars waiting for love upon his arrival. Having tried many working environments, Chris Plank prefers to work from home. He believes in the vibes of a shop and the relationship he has with the customers behind the guitars. "I want an environment for dudes to come over to hang and talk about their guitars and gigs at my house over some coffee and the smell of incense burning," says plank, "Guitars are imperfect and so are we, and therefore we must take care of them as we do ourselves, by staying balanced and healthy. Customers want to pick up their guitar and feel that bond. If something isn't right, they will neglect the guitar and never develop that relationship. It is my job to make sure every customer falls in love with their guitar again." -PlankSound
