Crete Bus / KTEL Heraklion-Lasithi Crete Bus (KTEL Heraklion-Lasithi S.A.) services routes all over Crete starting at Heraklion.

It is the largest transportation organization in Crete and one of the largest in Greece. Using 170 modern luxury busses of all sizes, it conducts hundreds of routes daily linking the major cities of Crete with all settlements, also with the rest of Greece through a framework of combined transport. Crete Bus provides services all over the island of Crete and connects it to the mainland of Greece, c

arrying out itineraries to Lamia, Larisa, Katerini, Thessaloniki, Patra, Corinthos, Arta, Messologgi and Ioannina. We also have three (3) General Tourist offices in Heraklion, in Chersonisos, and in Agios Nikolaos and we also offer private coaches for all kinds of excursions. By implementing a long-term development planning, within the last few years we have replaced all the buses in our fleet, all our operations have been computerized, our stations and our agencies have been renovated, and we have already begun construction of our new modern facilities in a 20 acre lot next to Heraklion airport, complete with maintenace infrastructure, so that a state-of-the-art Cretan Bus Station will be operational there in the near future. Our mission is to transport our passengers safely and efficiently to as many destinations in Crete, throughout Greece, and abroad. We also provide the secure and speedy transportation of packages to all the destinations served by our busses. Looking into the future, the 500 employees and partners of Crete Bus aspire to provide the best service possible, thus contributing to the development not only of the island, but also of the country. As part of our social contribution we offer reduced fare prices for people in need, or of little means, like students, children of large families, and people with disabilities. As "companions to your journey" we will daily anticipate all your transportation needs and transform each of your trips with us into a comfortable and safe, luxury travel experience.

Heraklion Bus Station A near Heraklion port serves destinations mostly along the North coast of Crete, East to Agios Nikolaos in Lasithi and West serving Rethimnon and Chania. Bus Station B (Chanioporta) in Heraklion town, buses leave for the South in Heraklion prefecture towards Zaros, Mires and Matala, stopping in towns in between. Buses also leave towards Anogia, Gortys and Faistos.

The archaeological site of Ancient Tylissos is located 16km west of Heraklion, in a strategic location. Tylissos was a Minoan city that was flourished in 1650-1450 mainly because it was amid the road that led from Knossos to the west Minoan centers and Ida Mount. Seeing the scattered pieces of pottery and piles of stones, we can assume that the peaceful bay of Salamias stoped the Minoan ships that made the circumnavigation of Crete to worship at the shrine.
