Kaludoscope

Kaludoscope An independent studio making fun and accessible games and interactive experiences.

Kaludoscope AB’s founders - designer Gemma Thomson and programmer Delia Hamwood - met in the playful anarchy of a cardboard fort, and soon decided they wanted to make games together. In 2016 they decided to found their own micro-studio, making fun, inclusive and accessible games – and helping others to do the same.

With A Maze Festival wrapped up in Berlin, next stop for us is Creative Coast Festival in southern Sweden! Our CEO, Gemma, will be there discussing ways to make a more inclusive and representative space for 'indie' creators.

Hey there lovelies!

You might've wondered why it got so quiet all of a sudden, news being hinted at etc. Basically, I got swamped with stuff to do, went to speak at QUO VADIS - Game Developers Conference and then for the last 5 days I've been sick in bed. Any and all help to share and spread information will be super appreciated!

Expect announcements in a flurry today and tomorrow. We've got so little time and so much fun to do!

Yesterday marked the deadline for applications to Stugan - a non-profit game accelerator held annually, in the Swedish woodlands. This year we've submitted "Dragon Queens" for consideration, in order that Delia and Gemma might bring the game to completion whilst working side-by-side for a change! We also hope to learn and share with Stugan's unique community of mentors and fellow developers.

You can watch our short pitch video below, which also explains more about ourselves, the game, and just how much Delia's dog wants to visit Sweden...

Now that life has returned to a more regular pace in the wake of GameCity 11, here's some of what we discovered during the process of "jamming" the Open Arcade:

When "Dragon Queens" appeared at GameCity 11 in the UK, we seized an opportunity to iterate upon many core aspects of the game. Here's what we learned.

We made our very first public appearance this week - after a few months of quiet plotting and scribbling - when CEO and designer Gemma took to the stage at Castle Game Jam in Örebro, Sweden. She was there to share a few friendly tips and prompts on game accessibility and inclusivity, at the formative stage where such ideas can be implemented much more easily.

“This. A thousand times this. ”
