23 days later…what an adventure we have had! But- all good things must come to an end- time to get home to the good ole USA 🇺🇸 and back to reality! We are missing our families.

Our last day in New Zealand, was in Auckland. We visited Savage Memorial Park for views of the surrounding volcanoes, the Winter Garden, hiked to the top of volcano- Mt. Eden, and did some more wine tasting. Now for 3 days of “rest” on the ship until we get back to Australia!

Today we visited the world’s first fully fenced ecosanctuary. It definitely had a Jurassic Park vibe 😜. Zealandia is an incredible experience of nature in Wellington, NZ.

Hi there fellow wanderers and travelers! My name is Lori Whitehouse and in May 2018, I retired as an elementary school principal after 30 years in education. With retirement came the question- How do I want to spend my time during retirment? Where will I focus my energy during this next chapter of life?
Thanks to a book I read by Matthew Kelly, Perfectly Yourself. I began to ask myself... what am I truly passionate about? Where could I best use my creative energy, my thirst for knowledge, my organizational skills, my administrative background, and of course my love for travel? At the time I was working with a good friend, and Travel Agent, to book a European River Cruise for our 30th Anniversary. That is when this tiny seed of a career in Travel began to grow. I loved the idea of working with others to help them plan their dream vacation and check places of their Bucket List.
Many people, who know about my new career, ask me if people still use Travel Agents. My answer is ABSOLUTELY! In my first year, I booked over 100 trips for other people- cruises, all-inclusives, honeymoons, guided tours, private tours, Hawaii, Alaska, Caribbean, Europe, Disney. It has been such a blessing to play a small part in ensuring that others have a perfect and stress free vacation.
Yes- you can get online and search for hours on end to find your vacation. But, let’s be honest- in our technology saturated society- who has time? How do you narrow it down when there are an infinite number of options? How do you know what all is included? Who do you go to if you have questions? I know people who have booked a trip on a “do it yourself” vacation site, only to have something go terribly wrong. When this happens, they quickly find out that it’s very hard to get in touch with a real person who truly cares about their vacation dilemma.
I have helped clients deal with lost luggage, cancelled flights, flight delays, hotel overcharges, getting special dinner reservations, changing vacation plans at the last minute, cancelling vacation plans due to a family illness, and filing insurance claims. I believe the personal attention and interaction with a Travel Agent, made a big difference for each of these clients.
