While walking through the streets of Kanchipuram yesterday, I came to notice a man painting a portrait image of none other than the politician-turned-actor 'Captain' Vijayakanth. An idea to shoot a time lapse video of the same grew out of no where even though a few more pitstops were there to reach as per the original plan before calling it a day. When asked for the permission to the artist himself, he readily agreed & adjusted himself so that I can shoot. Abandoning the plans for that evening, I stood beside him & began to shoot in my mobile. It took me 53 odd minutes & 250 images to arrive this final product. Once when completed his creation, I showed him this 10 second footage & he was beyond happy. 'Adayengappa... Super sir!' was his immediate response & stretched his right hand forward for a shake hand. Noticing the paint marks inside his palm, he himself quickly attempted to pull back his hand. But as I stretched my hand forward & told 'parava illai boss', I got one of the warmest appreciation in my entire life in the form of a firm shake hand. When I asked his name, his reply was like 'Elumalai... seven hills', drawing 7 in the air. As I told him "you are really talented", I saw drops of happiness in his wet eyes and hence my day was made. This sort of experiences are what keeps on pushing me to travel more despite of the disappointments getting on the road & hence making me a better person. :)
